Concordia Damen to Build Training Vessel for STC Group

Concordia Damen said it has been selected to build a new training vessel for the STC Group for delivery in 2022.The new, environmentally conscious vessel will replace two training vessels – the Princess Christina and the Princess Beatrix – that the Rotterdam-headquartered maritime training institution has used to train students for more than 50 years.In 2018, students and teachers at STC Group, along with supporters from the business community, began to develop the ideas behind the vessel.

Wärtsilä Sim Software for Dutch Training

Software solutions from Wärtsilä have been selected for installation in three maritime training centers in The Netherlands.The turnkey systems is designed to allow training to commence immediately following the site acceptance. The systems have been ordered by the Rotterdam based STC Group, an international maritime transport and logistics education provider. Europe to Fund ‘SkillSea’ Project in Maritime Sector

The European Commission  said it will co-finance the project ‘Futureproof Skills for the Maritime transport sector (SkillSea)’.The project aims to develop strategies to identify and meet the future skills needs of the maritime sector and attract greater numbers of Europeans to work in maritime industries. Simwave Hires Hoorn

As of September 2017 Aat Hoorn has joined Simwave as manager engine room and high voltage simulators. These state of the art simulators comprise various engine room models presented on workstations, big views as well as a full mission engine room environment. Besides a Certificate of Competence Chief Engineer All Ships, Hoorn carries a professional Master’s degree in Education. Prior to joining Simwave Hoorn worked at various (managing) positions at a.o. Nedlloyd and AVR waste management center.

Port of Amsterdam Signs Pact with Port of Fujairah

Port of Amsterdam, STC-Group Holding and Iskes Towage & Salvage signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in Amsterdam with Port of Fujairah (PoF), one of the largest oil storage and bunkering hubs in the world. The agreement focuses on further strategic cooperation. Located on the east coast of the United Arab Emirates, the port of Fujairah has seen tremendous growth in the past decades, turning from a regional multi-purpose Port into an important part of the global oil supply chain. PoF strives to consolidate and further expand on its achieved market position and to improve its port operations to live up to the standard of a world class port.

ROTC Trains Maritime Staff of Emodraga in Mozambique

Empresa Moçambicana de Dragagens E.P. has recently formed some of its maritime people so that they are trained according to the standards and requirements of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) and STCW Convention (Convention – Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers). Damen, NSTC offer Crew Training in Philippines

To mark this year’s Interferry Conference in Manila, the Philippines, Damen Shipyards Group has teamed up with Netherlands Shipping Training Centre (NSTC), Managed by the international maritime education and training organisation STC-Group. Damen and NSTC have developed a training course for the Philippines-based ferry crew. The training package will feature a number of elements, including rules and regulations (ISM code), crew and crisis management and – important in public transportation – cross cultural differences. Damen has worked with STC-Groupfor many years in the provision of seafarers’ training, as Martijn Voorham, General Manager NSTC,based in Palompon, Leyte explains: “Damen and STC-Group have travelled the world together.

Europe's 'LNG Masterplan'

The European Union has facilitated this project between 2013 and 2015. The project cost a total of 34 million euros, 17 million of which were provided by the European Union from the TEN-T Program. STC Buys NAUTIS Simulator Classroom

The Egyptian River Transport Authorities (RTA), receiving party in The Netherlands Initiative for Capacity development in Higher Education project funded by the Netherlands, and STC Group as delivering party, purchased a classroom of NAUTIS Desktop Simulators to enhance the curriculum for its inland waterways training at the Regional Institute for River Transport (RIRT). The six NAUTIS simulators were delivered and installed by VSTEP at the RIRT headquarters in Caïro. The River Transport Authorities (RTA) is the main governmental body in charge of supervision of all transportation on the domestic waterways in Egypt. The RTA provides professional education and training through RIRT for the inland navigation personnel and trainees at its premises in Cairo.

STC-Group Orders Kongsberg Simulator Upgrades

STC-Group has signed a contract with simulation developer Kongsberg Maritime to supply extensive upgrades to its large suite of simulators. The contract consists of sophisticated extensions and upgrades to the group's Kongsberg Maritime full mission and part task ship's bridge simulators and its full mission engine room simulator. A complete upgrade of the group's classroom set of 15 desktop cargo handling simulators and 15 desktop engine room simulators including instructor stations for both classrooms is also included in the delivery…
