Longship Orders Four Vessels from Atlas Shipyard

Groningen-based shipping company Longship said it has ordered a series of four "ultra-low" emission 8,600 TDW vessels from Atlas Shipyard in Turkey, with the first unit to be delivered in spring 2024Based on a new ship design developed by Longship with Dutch naval architect Ankerbeer BV, the vessles will reduce emissions and be compliant with the EU Stage V standards applicable to non-road mobile machinery (NRMM). Standard Drilling Sells Stake in VLCC Gustavia S

Norwegian investment company Standard Drilling said Tuesday it had sold its 33.3% ownership in the VLCC Gustavia S, following the updated company strategy. Standard Drilling, which in 2013 sold off its offshore drilling rigs, only to return as offshore vessel owner in 2016, in January 2020 entered the tanker market by acquiring a 33.3% ownership in the newly built Gustavia S VLCC.Now, the company has sold its stake in the 300 000 TDW ECO Design Crude Oil Tanker built by Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Co and fitted with scrubber technology delivered by Wärtsila. Oldendorff Announces New Fleet Additions

German shipping company Oldendorff Carriers said on Tuesday that earlier this year it ordered a Capesize bulk carrier newbuild at Namura Shipbuilding in Japan and purchased a trio of secondhand Post-panamax bulkers from three Japanese owners.The 182,000 tdw eco Capesize newbuild is due for delivery during the fourth quarter of 2022. It features a Mitsui-MAN B&W 6G70ME-C9.5(EGRBP) NOX Tier III main engine and a new hull form, which results in a very low fuel consumption.

Harren Bulkers Grows its Managed Fleet to Three

Oldendorff in Bulker Deal with Bangladesh

German bulk carrier company Oldendorff Carriers  signed a Coal Transportation Agreement (CTA) with  Bangladesh Chinese Power Company limited(BCPCL).Oldendorff will provide a full transportation solution to BCPCL, which includes coal transportation from Indonesia or Australia with transshipment in Andaman & Nicobar to Payra power plant in Bangladesh.The coal transshipment will allow BCPCL to take advantage of lower freight costs using larger vessels to Andaman & Nicobar, and smaller vessels will deliver the cargo to BCPCL, due to draft restrictions at Payra port.Weather restrictions for transshipment in the Gulf of Bengal, due to northeast and southwest monsoons, make transshipment impossible for at least four months of the year.

Lydia Oldendorff Sets Record

The largest German bulk carrier company Oldendorff Carriers GmbH, which operates around 700 ships, said that its Lydia Oldendorff (207,562 tdw built 2015) has set a record as the largest vessel to load coal at Puerto Bolivar, Colombia.The Newcastlemax vessel has a length of 300 meters and a breadth of 50 meters and was loaded on a trial cargo draft of 17.5 meters. Oldendorff Signs 23 Deals with Chinese Firms

German dry bulk shipping company Oldendorff group has revealed a series of 23 deals with Chinese leasing companies over the last year.None of these deals involve lease finance, said the company.The deals involve six capesizes, four kamsarmaxes and 13 ultramaxes and comprise a range of resales and both fixed and floating time charters. Eco Newbuildings Delivered Simultaneously

In effort to upgrade the fleet, 2019 started with the delivery of five new eco-ships delivered to Oldendorff Carriers, four of which were delivered on the same day. Oldendorff Sells Three Vessels in in CSL Pool to Algoma

Samjin Shipbuilding to Deliver Christiane Oldendorff Soon

Dry bulk shipping firm Oldendorff Carriers said that the bulk carrier newbuilding MV “Christiane Oldendorff” (charter name “Midland Trader”) of 36,000 tdw will be delivered around the turn of the year. The ship is built at Samjin Shipbuilding Industries Co Ltd at Weihai, Shandong.The German company which ships and tranships over to 300 million tons of bulk cargo every year said in a note that  a sister ship, MV “Christopher Oldendorff” (charter name “Hansa Baltic”) is expected to start trading in April 2019."We originally ordered them in June 2012 at the then Korean controlled yard. In 2015, the Korean mother company got into trouble.

Oldendorff Carriers said it has signed an integrated coal transport and transhipment agreement for a new power station project to be built in the North of Vietnam at Nghi Son. Oldendorff to Open Copenhagen Office

Lubeck headquartered dry bulk shipping company Oldendorff Carriers said it plans to open an office in the maritime cluster in Hellerup, Denmark by June 2017. The new office just north of Copenhagen will be headed by Oldendorff Executive & Board Director Jens Jacobsen, who will lead a team initially consisting of eight to 10 people. The company intends to relocate a number of people to the new location but will also look to draw on the dry bulk shipping pool of talent in Scandinavia for further expansion.

Fleet Of Babycapes Is Growing: Oldendorff

Oldendorff Carriers has recently increased the number of owned bulk carriers in it Babycape segment by acquiring four more eco 119,000 tonners from compatriot shipowner Hartmann Reederei. The vessels are: MV UBC Ottawa   (tbrn: Roland Oldendorff), MV UBC Odessa  (tbrn: Rex Oldendorff), MV UBC Olimbus  (tbrn: Redmer Oldendorff) and MV UBC Oristano (tbrn: Rik Oldendorff). These ships were built for Hartmann at Sinopacific Shipbuilding in 2011. The acquisitions will increase our total operated Babycape fleet to around 36 units, of which 10 will be fully owned. Oldendorff Carriers  has been able to build a network of trades, which can take advantage of the large capacity that these vessels offer on any draft.

Oldendorff Conducts Trial Transshipment in India

German shipping company Oldendorff Carriers has conducted a new transshipment operation of coal between two vessels, in the deep, protected water of the Andaman Islands within the Bay of Bengal, India. The Andaman Islands are an Indian archipelago in the Bay of Bengal. There are roughly 300 islands, which are known for their palm-lined, white-sand beaches, mangroves and tropical rainforests. However, it was the deep and protected water that attracted Oldendorff Carriers to the Andaman Islands. "Our geared panamax Trina Oldendorff (75,053 tdw built 2013) loaded 73,086 mt of coking coal from Gladstone, Australia and sailed to the Andaman Islands," a statement said.

Tidewater Names Rynd President, CEO

Tidewater Inc. (NYSE: TDW) appointed John T. Rynd as the company's new President and CEO and a member of the Board of Directors effective March 5. He replaces Larry T. Rigdon who has served as interim President and Chief Executive Officer since October of 2017. Tom Bates, Chairman of the Board of Directors, said "After completing a comprehensive search, the Board is very pleased to welcome John to the team. He brings with him considerable experience in the offshore drilling services sector and the global oil and gas industry as a whole. Rynd previously served as Chief Executive Officer and President, and as a director of Hercules Offshore from 2008 through 2016.
