Joe Keefe Joins MaritimeProfessional.com
Joseph A. Keefe, former Editor in Chief of The Maritime Executive magazine and the MarEx e-newsletter, has joined MaritimeProfessional as its leading commentator.
"Joe Keefe is a globally respected maritime journalist who brings a wealth of industry insight and knowledge to MaritimeProfessional," said Greg Trauthwein, Editor and Associate Publisher with New Wave Media, producers of MaritimeProfessional (and MarineLink.com). "He will lead a global network of reporters and commentators- from Hong Kong to Europe to Mumbai to Rio and throughout North America- that have helped to drive MaritimeProfessional to 6,000 members in just six months."
Keefe brings more than thirty years of experience in a myriad of roles within the maritime industry and has made contributions on a wide variety of energy and marine transportation subjects, at sea and ashore. A graduate of the Massachusetts Maritime Academy, Keefe is also a licensed mariner and a recognized authority on marine risk management, especially in the fields of petroleum loss control and ship inspection. Notably, he previously served as the Appointed Nautical Inspector for the Bahamas Maritime Authority in the Western US Gulf. Keefe's written work has appeared in more than ten industry and trade publications and his online weekly columns have been a staple of maritime readers everywhere for many years.
Uniquely positioned to oversee the content of MaritimeProfessional, and bringing 13 years of journalism experience in a variety of roles, Keefe's enthusiasm is clearly evident. Out in front of his new assignment and first column, scheduled for next week, he added, "I very much look forward to the opportunity to contribute from the outset- and in a substantial way- to the maritime industry's most mature and respected group of publications."
MaritimeProfessional is the largest business networking site serving the marine industry, offering business blogs, discussion forums, and contact groups. Each day thousands of industry professionals around the world log on to network, connect, and communicate.
