PROMAR Orders Two Damen PSVs

Swiss company PROMAR has ordered two Platform Supply Vessels from Damen Shipyards Group as it looks to further expand the offshore fleet under its management in the next five years. The first Damen PSV 3300 will be delivered in February 2015, and the second in August of the same year.

Commenting on why the company chose a Damen vessel, Olivier Meynis de Paulin, Chartering Supervisor said, “The PSV 3300is at the forefront of technology in terms of equipment, being modern and reliable. These ships are built in line with North Sea standards.”

PROMAR expects to employ the two vessels in the West African market. “West Africa is well-known to us. We have been chartering in this region since 2002 when we were established,” Meynis de Paulin said. “Bringing the standards of the PSV 3300 to African countries will certainly be a valuable competitive edge. In addition, the design and the level of comfort proposed by these vessels are definitely an important advantage.”

PROMAR established its headquarters in Switzerland in 2002. Currently it has a fleet of Multipurpose Supply Vessels and Fast Crew Boats under management, which serve the global offshore marine industry.

The company covers all ship management competencies and has a presence in Africa, Europe and the Middle East, providing top quality services to meet the highest standards of oil majors and subcontractors. Marine safety and safe working practices are always vitally important to the company, stresses Meynis de Paulin. Its first representative office was opened in Congo in 2010, followed by Gabon and Angola.

Meynis de Paulin outlined the company’s ambitions, adding, “We are aiming to enlarge our fleet in the coming five years, bearing in mind that PROMAR’s first priority is to offer its charterers high quality vessels. Our tailor-made, commercial approach will enable us to expand in a way where we can respond to real market demand.”

“The PROMAR PSV 3300 is being tailored to meet or even exceed our charterers’ expectations,” he stressed.

Several specifications are being added such as Fire-Fighting Ship 1, ROV preparations, oil spill detection radar and a tank heating system.
