Two ships are currently at Blohm + Voss Repair GmbH in Hamburg and both were booked in at very short notice, one for rudder repairs and the other for the repair of engine damage. The container ship CGM PASTEUR (length over all: 200,23m, breadth: 32,20m; GT: 29.739) from Columbus Shipmanagement (Hamburg Süd) is in Dock 11. Its rudder bearings are being replaced and the rudder blade repaired. In addition a completely new rudder head is being fitted. All of that is happening inside three weeks, which is about the time a shipyard would normally need just to arrange delivery of the parts. The ship is due to leave B + V Repair on November 23rd. The general cargo vessel DJURDJURA (length over all 125,45m, breadth: 17,30m, GT: 5.389) belonging to Algerian shipowner CNAN shipping is meanwhile at Berth 15 for repair of her cooling water pumps and other things. The ship’s bilge pump is also being completely overhauled. B + V Repair is offering a special service to this customer by making the necessary replacement parts itself, saving time and possible delivery bottlenecks. The shipyard has, in addition, booked two comprehensive new orders. The Russian cruise liner MAXIM GORKIY, of shipowner Unicorn, will arrive December 1st for annual overhaul and will spend three weeks in Dock 11 being repaired and maintained. MAXIM GORKIY was built in 1969 as the HAMBURG by the Deutsche Werft in Hamburg Finkenwerder for the former Hanseatic Shipping Company. The 194.72 m long and 26.62 m wide passenger ship is making her sixth visit in a row to Blohm + Voss Repair GmbH. A month later, on January 6 2003, the passenger/car ferry PRINSESSE RAGNHILD (length over all: 202,25m, breadth: 24,36, GT: 35.438), which belongs to Norwegian shipowner Color Line, will begin a 41 day stay at the shipyard. She is to undergo a comprehensive general overhaul of her auxiliary diesel and main starboard engine.
