CCGS Vladykov – First of Three New Canadian Near-Shore Research Vessels
The CCGS Vladykov is the first of three new Near-Shore Fisheries Research Vessels to be delivered to the Canadian Coast Guard. Commissioned in August 2012, the vessel was constructed at Meridien Maritime Inc. in Matane, Quebec to a design developed by Robert Allan Ltd of Vancouver, B.C. The CCGS Vladykov and its sister vessels will conduct scientific research in the Newfoundland and Labrador region.
OceanWorks Contracted to Supply Spare OCB Components
OceanWorks International contracted to deliver additional seafloor nodes for CSnet International’s Offshore Communications Backbone (OCB). The OCB (Offshore Communications Backbone) subsea infrastructure, including five seafloor nodes which form the existing seafloor observatory portion of the system, was originally designed by OceanWorks International and delivered to Harris Caprock Communications (HCC) .

Return to Bremerhaven: The research vessel 'Polarstern' returns with new findings from the Central Arctic during the 2012 ice minimum. After a good two months. Since its departure from Tromsø (Norway) on 2 August 2012 Polarstern has travelled some 12,000 kilometres and conducted research at 306 stations. These included nine ice stations where the ship moored to an ice floe for several days to examine the ice, the water beneath it and the bottom of the sea.
