In coordination with the inaugural Danish Maritime Days taking place across Denmark from October 6-10, MAN Diesel & Turbo today hosted an event at its newly updated engine test center in Frederikshavn, where it highlighted noteworthy energy-efficient initiatives, including its recently launched high speed engine.

The new MAN 175D, which made its debut at SMM last month, is designed to pack state-of-the-art efficiency and simplicity into a compact offering for offshore supply vessels, tugs, workboats, ferries and even megayachts, with power between 2,000 and 3,000 hp.

Under development since 2008, MAN said it has put the engine through thousands of hours of tests to reach targeted durability and efficiency standards, adding that it will meet IMO Tier III requirements by the time it reaches the market sometime in 2015.
