Russia Detected and "Eject" a Submarine Alleged US

The anti-submarine force of the Northern Fleet of Russia detected a foreign submarine in the border waters and "expelled", Russian news agencies reported on Saturday, citing an unnamed spokesman of Staff Russian navy.

A foreign submarine, believed to be an American ship Virginia class, was detected by forces of the Northern Fleet, stationed in the Barents Sea on August 7, the spokesman said.

A defense official United States, speaking on condition of anonymity, did not confirm the incident and said he had no comment on the statements of Russia.

"They sent the mentioned area a group of anti attack submarines and an Ilyushin Il-38 (...) to investigate and track the submarine," said Russian Navy spokesman, was quoted as saying by Interfax.

"Active maneuvers antisubmarine forces of the Northern Fleet will submersible expelled the boundary waters of the Russian Federation," he added.
