Bayliss Joins IMCA as Technical Advisor

A new Technical Adviser, Paul Bayliss, has joined the expanding London secretariat of the International Marine Contractors Association (IMCA). He will help to manage the significant work programme of the Association supporting members towards safer and more efficient marine operations. These include offshore construction, dynamically positioned vessels, offshore diving, remotely systems and remotely operated vehicles (ROVs), and offshore positioning/surveying (hydrographic and condition survey).

“We are welcoming Paul at a particularly busy time,” explained IMCA’s Chief Executive, Hugh Williams. “Our membership is increasing dramatically, as is the association’s work programme. We now have a team of 19, with seven in the technical team working with my colleague Jane Bugler, IMCA’s Technical Director.

“Paul joins us after working for several IMCA members including Saipem and CTC Marine Projects (part of the Trico Group) and liaising with a number of other IMCA members. He initially trained as a marine engineer before coming ashore and moving into the offshore construction industry.  He specialised in subsea equipment especially ROVs and ploughs. His past responsibilities have included design, construction, mobilisation, operation and maintenance of this equipment liaising with project teams, clients and subcontractors.  His all-round marine, lifting and subsea experience fits well with IMCA’s role and the other technical team members of the secretariat.”

Paul Bayliss most recently worked at Saipem UK Ltd where he was a Plough Chief Engineer from July 2007-August 2008 following which he became an Equipment Superintendent working in Stavanger. Prior to joining Saipem he joined CTC Marine Projects in late 2004, after working as a 2nd/3rd Engineer for various shipping companies, as an Assistant Support Engineer and was promoted to Base Supervisor in June 2005.
