Marine Rescue Technologies Introduces MusterGuard
Marine Rescue Technologies released MusterGuard for use in oil rigs, SOLAS vessels, petroleum and chemical plants. The MusterGuard system was designed in response to the recent Deep Water Horizon disaster and recent chemical plant explosions worldwide. The MusterGuard provides automated real time accounting of personnel during an emergency evacuation and or during a muster drill. The muster drill, reports and record keeping are mandatory maritime requirements.
The MusterGuard provides a list of personnel on board (POB) or personnel on premise, including key data, trade certificates, cabin number, work area and primary duties during an evacuation or muster drill. At check in point the muster officer and captain get a real time report of who is expected, who is missing, and who has shown up at the wrong station. In the event that first responders are called in, management can direct them to the work areas or cabin numbers of missing personnel.
The IT based system installs on a standard local area network and uses standard communication protocols. The system devices include standard readers (proximity, RFID, etc), PC’s, laptops, and servers, all network addressable. Systems are often installed by the end user, using industry standard network installation practices.
The MusterGuard reports, detailing all personnel on board, muster drill results and exception reports, are instantaneous. The reports provide management with the benchmarks for acceptance and exception reports identifying areas where management can take pro-active measures to improving the efficiency of future drills. In capital intensive industries, any loss of production time is expensive. The MusterGuard system expedites the emergency drill and allows personnel to resume normal operations sooner.
