Montreal Gateway Terminals Implement Navis TOS

Montreal Gateway Terminals Partnership (MGT) and Navis, a part of Cargotec Corporation announce the successful implementation of the Navis N4 terminal operating system (TOS) at MGT.

The implementation was a migration from Navis’ legacy software SPARCS and an internally developed data host system to N4, Navis’ latest generation terminal operating system.

Located in close proximity to strategic markets in the U.S. and Canada, MGT has an annual TEU capacity in excess of 1.8 MM and services all aspects of terminal operations, including ship, gate and rail operations. Because of its geographic position and industry leadership, MGT is a strategic gateway between North America, Europe, and the Mediterranean for container cargo.

The TOS providers explain that N4 allows customers to run their operations from a single terminal to multiple terminals spanning numerous geographic locations managed from one central location. By consolidating all systems on one platform, the move enables MGT to modernize its IT infrastructure, optimize terminal efficiency, and facilitate ongoing logistics innovations, while providing for an even safer and more secure environment.

Members of the MGT team partnered closely with Navis throughout the N4 implementation process to establish clear goals and key performance indicators in line with MGT’s core business objectives. Following the initial planning phase, rigorous pre-launch testing and simulations were conducted to guide the project to completion and ensure that MGT was well positioned for a successful go-live. A post go-live support strategy is in place to provide ongoing software assessments and facilitate the continued success of the N4 system.

“From the project’s inception we worked closely with MGT to ensure a smooth transition,” said Chuck Schneider, General Manager, Americas for Navis, “We look forward to continuing our partnership through ongoing system maintenance, software trainings and knowledge sharing.”
