SPNM Strategy for Higher growth trajectory

Striving to grow mutually with other organizations has been a strategies of Shipping Professional Networking (Mumbai) which has seen its membership swell rapidly every since it was established three years ago. This was evident at SPNM's 9th Networking event held on 4th July at the Acres Club, Mumbai the day Americans celebrate their Independence Day. It welcomed the U.S. India Importer’s Council (USIIC) to network with its members and make a presentation of its various activities that could benefit members. 

Noble Shipping Pvt Ltd., came forward to sponsor the event which was endorsed by the USIIC. The occasion saw a large number of members turning up alongwith some leading lights of the industry whose presence offered members an opportunity to interact on matters of interests.

Krishna Rohit, Secretary General of USIIC gave details about their organization and how it could help to benefit those in the maritime and logistic trade. He explained how India's trade with the US has been growing and the commodities that were imported and exported that were helping to establish a strong bond between the two countries. He said that their organization has been playing a crucial role in promoting this trade.  

"Recently, U.S. India Importer’s Council (USIIC) hosted an interactive session with US ITC senior officials," Krishna Rohit stated. "Ms. Laura S. Bloodgood, Ms. Tiffany Eder, Mr. Richard H. Zielinski (Vice Consul for Economic Affairs) were some of the officials with whom we had an opportunity to meet on 26th June 2014 at the Mumbai Cricket Association Club, BKC. Members of USIIC got an opportunity to have direct interaction with the senior officials with US ITC which is an independent, quasi-judicial Federal agency with broad investigative responsibilities on matters of trade."

Rohit said that the information and analysis are provided to the US President, the Office of the United States Trade Representative (USTR), and Congress to facilitate the development of sound and informed U.S. trade policy. The Commission makes most of its information and analysis available to the public to promote understanding of international trade issues.

"The event was well participated by USIIC’s Founder Chairman Dr. V. Rangaraj (Advisor – Aditya Birla Group), Mr. M J Rai (Chairman, USIIC & MD Titan Sea & Air Services), Mr. Saurabh Sonawala (Founder Member & MD Hinditron), Mr. C. Venkatramana (USIIC Chapter President, Mumbai & MD Sunil Hitech), Mr. Hiten Bhuta (USIIC Mentoring Council IT & MD, CGS Infotech) and top executives from DHL, Western Union, Allcargo Logistics, Karma Bizcon, United Airlines, HRISVINC, Mapleleaf, SKP Consulting, MITRA Capital to name a few," Mr Rohit informed.

The office bearers of SPNM thanked USIIC for making it convenient to attend and give an insight about the activities of their council which could be a boon to the SPNM members. Capt R. Swaminathan, Hon. Secretary of SPNM welcomed the official of USIIC and felicitated them with momentos. Mr Anand V. Sharma, Jt Secretary presented in brief the achievements and future programs of the SPNM. Mr Manas Vaid, Chairman of SPNM gave the vote of thanks.
