Arctic Seas Environment: Seminar on Catastrophic Oil Spill

Federal, state, local, tribal & industry leaders meet for 'Arctic Spill of National Significance' seminar in Anchorage, Alaska.

A Spill of National Significance is defined as a spill that, due to size, location actual or potential impact on the environment or the necessary response effort, is so complex it requires extraordinary coordination of federal, state, local and responsible party resources to contain and clean up the discharge.

The Arctic SONS seminar served to validate and improve the effectiveness of response plans as well as to explore and describe potential opportunities for improvement in preparedness and response to a massive spill in the Arctic.
