Shipdock Amsterdam Nominated for Triple Certification

Lloyd’s Register has nominated Shipdock Amsterdam for ISO 9001:2008 (quality), ISO 14001:2004 (environmental management) and OHSAS 18001:2007 (health and safety management)

Shipdock Amsterdam, part of Damen Shiprepair & Conversion, has been certified by Lloyd’s Register Quality Assurance for aligning its quality, safety and environment management systems with internationally recognized standards, Damen reported.

A three-man audit team audited the yard’s management systems, implementation and awareness among its employees and other people working at the Amsterdam repair yard. Managing Director Flip van der Waal commented, “Applying for certification of an integrated management system of all three disciplines is considered to be an ambitious exercise. Succeeding demonstrates the determination, knowledge and skills of the people working at Shipdock Amsterdam.”

He added, “We are proud to have achieved global recognition for our well-thought out and integrated management system. By adhering to best practices we are positioning our yard as a professional and well-organized facility with a management focus on safety, quality and sustainability. We knew from the start it was going to be a challenge, but like all the other challenges we face in our day-to-day business we have managed to be successful by working as a team.”
