The U.K. Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) and Norcontrol IT have entered into an agreement to collaborate in the training of coastal Vessel Traffic Service operators around the world. “We’re excited about this agreement,” says Steve Guest, the General Manager of Norcontrol IT UK. The MCA is an internationally recognized authority in the provision of a coastal Vessel Traffic Service (VTS) and Training, and Norcontrol IT is a leading supplier of maritime surveillance systems to coastguard authorities worldwide.” “We are always looking for new and innovative ways of providing choice and a value added service to our customers and this agreement provides a foundation in the area of operator training,” comments Guest. “We strongly believe in providing customers with a choice and have always offered this in terms of the technical solution provided. Now we’ll be able to offer customers a choice in the area of operator training also.” MCA’s Maurice Storey, Chief Executive of the MCA says, “It is MCA’s vision that through this agreement with Norcontrol IT, we will be able to further promote the training services we have to offer.” Maurice adds, “The MCA training facility at Dover will augment our world class facility at Highcliffe in Dorset, and will enable us to pass on our experience and expertise in all aspects of coastguard operations including maritime surveillance, search and rescue (SAR) and illegal immigration to other authorities.”
