A containership and a bulk carrier were damaged in a collision in Denmark’s Great Belt early Tuesday morning. No injuries or pollution have been reported.

The 178-meter containership Delphis Gdansk and 190-meter bulk carrier BBC Neptune collided around 4 a.m. while passing in opposite directions in the deepwater route Rute Tango of the Great Belt between Fyns Head and Kalundborg, Denmark.

Danish authorities said they were alerted of the incident around 7:30 a.m.

A small fire that broke out aboard BBC Neptune has been extinguished.

At least seven containers were reportedly lost overboard from Delphis Gdansk, and work to recover the cargo is underway.

The cause of the incident is under investigation.
