Tanker Construction Begins in Dung Quat

VNA reported that Dung Quat Shipbuilding Industry Corporation on October 30 began building a 104,000-tonoil tanker, the largest of its kind built in Vietnam so far. The construction, which uses technology from Poland, will be supervised by the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS). Experts from Japan, the Republic of Korea and Poland will take part in building the oil tanker. The same day, the Dung Quat Shipbuilding Industry Corporation and the Vietnam Shipping Corporation (Vinaship) signed a principle contract on the building of two 54,000-ton freighters. Under the schedule, the Dung Quat 01 oil tanker and one freighter will be completed and handed over to Vinaship by the end of March, 2008. Source: VNA
