Seasat A/S, the Danish communications services provider, specialized in delivering reliable broadband, television and voice services for the maritime market announces today that it has been awarded a multiyear contract with Maersk Supply Service. The contract covers the delivery of 60+ VSAT systems with broadband airtime from Eutelsat and SpeedCast, and is based on SAILOR 900 antennas from Cobham SATCOM. The contract runs for 36 months - Seasat A/S will install and commission the systems as well as provide service and support to the vessels.

With this service setup, Maersk Supply Service will be able to enhance crew welfare and ship to shore connectivity in a global footprint.

Maersk Supply Service vessels will benefit from Eutelsat’s maritime connectivity services using SAILOR 900B VSAT antennas produced by Cobham that will be deployed and maintained by SEASAT. Using resources on four Eutelsat satellites Maersk Supply Service will be able to enhance crew welfare and ship to shore connectivity in a footprint extending from the Gulf of Mexico to South-East Asia.

Peter Faurhoej, Head of Navcom Systems at Maersk Supply Service, said, “Increasing charter and crew demand for fast and reliable internet require high quality equipment, a proven satellite provider and second to none service support. This additional multiyear contract with SEASAT will address our growing needs for reliable and cost effective communications services onboard our vessels. We are very satisfied with the tailor made setup, we have developed together with Seasat, and we are sure that our crew members and charters will be satisfied too.”

Olivier Risse, Director of mobile services at Eutelsat, added, “This contract is further evidence of how our newly expanded satellite footprint is benefiting the maritime sector that has high expectations for reach, dependability and cost-effective connectivity. We are proud that Maersk Supply Service and SEASAT continue to place their trust in us and that our Ku-band-based solutions are increasingly proving their value for crew welfare and ship to shore connectivity.”

Pierre-Jean Beylier, CEO of SpeedCast, added, “SpeedCast is pleased to support our long-term partner SEASAT for this opportunity with Maersk Supply Service. SEASAT has proven that they can handle large-scale projects effectively and reliability. Similarly SpeedCast has built a highly reliable and resilient maritime network to meet the needs of the most demanding customers, such as Maersk Supply Service.”

Kim Martinsen, Chief Executive Officer of SEASAT, concluded, “This agreement with Eutelsat enables us to step up our collaboration with Maersk Supply Service with operations all over the world. Thanks to Eutelsat’s global satellite coverage and flexible solutions for maritime service providers, we can offer our expertise in the maritime sector to multiple markets, notably for maintenance and support services where our experience is particularly acknowledged.”
