DP World Nhava Sheva, well-known for its operational efficiency; once again orchestrated a win-win situation for the trade and maintained normal import and export activities when the port confronted both, natural and manmade crisis.

With heavy rains that washed away a crucial part of the railway line leading to Pipavav Port, followed by an eight day strike called by the labour unions through the RTG operators of the neighbouring Terminal DP World Nhava Sheva competently laid open their new facility – NSIGT for vessels to berth and handle their EXIM Cargo.

Commenting on the flawless work displayed at the terminal Ajay Singh, CEO, DP World Nhava Sheva said, “At DP World Nhava Sheva, we believe at not stopping until the work is done. At this point of crisis faced by the port, we galvanized our resources and offered our best support to the trade. We will continue to think and experiment with new processes to ensure that DP World Nhava Sheva is always the Port of Choice and the most sought after trade gateway.”

The 330 meter terminal project adds 800,000 TEUs in capacity to the region and is able to accommodate some of the largest vessels calling at the Jawaharlal Nehru Port. The wharf is equipped with the world’s largest and technologically advanced quay cranes and was constructed in record time.

To ease the congestion which piles up on the roadways leading to the port, DP World Nhava Sheva inaugurated aworld Class Parking Facility. The 6 hectare plot provided by JNPT at Sonari Village was converted into a Parking Plaza with top-notch facilities for the truck drivers. This process is believed to be a game changer in the way traffic is handled at Nhava Sheva, and will work for the benefit of the transporters, exporters and the local community.

With the efforts invested at the terminal, it has over a period of time retained the position of being the world class container terminal. It has brought over a colossal change to the way container trade has shaped up in India and has made asignificant contribution to the economy.
