Rising Illinois River Closed from Mile 30-80

Maritime Activity Reports, Inc.

July 14, 2015

The Illinois River is closed to all traffic from mile 30 to 80 effective immediately as the river level at Meredosia, Ill. is inches from the top of the levees with the river still rising.

The river has been closed at the request of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and approved by the Captain of the Port.

Vessels currently inside the river closure zone can transit through with no wake requirements in effect.  Vessels outside the closure will have to wait until the river drops and the closure is lifted to transit the closure zone.

There has been no indication as to how long the closure will last.
