AEGIR-Marine has announced the appointment of Peter Ritskes as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective July 1st, 2025. AEGIR-Marine and UPE Conduct Major Stern Tube and Propeller Repair Job
When on route to the Gulf of Mexico area, a fully laden bulker hit a buoy off the coast of Colombia damaging the propeller blades and aft seal assembly. A close detailed inspection revealed a missing rope guard, the entire seal box being distorted and dislocated from the stern tube and all five propelled blades damaged.Trained and certified UPE-dive technicians were mobilized, together with special habitat and relevant equipment, from AEGIR-Marineās Panama branch.A complete new split type seal assembly was ordered and transferred, from stock, to location.

Dutch shipowner Spliethoff and AEGIRMarine signed an agreement for the supply the stern tube sealing parts and services for Spliethoffās fleet.According to its website, Spliethoff is a century-old company that operates a fleet of more than 50 Dutch flagged, 1A ice-classed, multipurpose vessels, ranging from 12,000 to 23,000 DWT.AEGIRāMarine is a serviceācentric stern tube seal producer and service provider. Safeway won a contract from Heerema Marine Contractors (HMC) to supply a Safeway Seagull type motion compensated gangway system for installation on the CSV Normand Baltic.The contract is significant for Safeway as it is the first contract for HMC, and it is also the first time the Safeway Seagull system with 3D crane function will be deployed to transfer personnel and cargo during an offshore wind project in Taiwan.Heerema was awarded a promising contract for a very large wind farm off the coast of Taiwan.

AEGIR-Marine Wins NK Class Type Approval
AEGIR-Marine assigned with an NK Class Type Approval. The newly certified seal assembly will be available for customers worldwide as of today. They are an addition to our Type Approval from several other major classification societies.For the NK Class Approval AEGIR-Marine performed a 2,000 hours endurance test in its state-of-the-art and certified R&D Test Center. A 1,000 hours of test runs were at extreme RPM and another 1,000 hours were at low to average RPM. Also, the conditions a seal has to withstand were simulated as realistically as possible.
AEGIR-Marine to Unveil Propulsion Controls System at SMM
Dutch-based AEGIR-Marine said it will roll out its own branded propulsion controls system at this yearās SMM trade fair in Hamburg.The new system, called Prime Controls, allows AEGIR-Marine to provide its customers with a full controls system retrofit and assures that spare parts are available at least 15 years after delivery, the company said.āAt AEGIR-Marine we witness a growth in the retrofit market for propulsion controls and automation,ā said Justin van Hoeve, Control Specialist at AEGIR-Marine.
AEGIR-Marine: New Propulsion Workshop DNV-GL approved
AEGIR-Marine reports that it received an Approved Workshop statement from DNV-GL. AEGIR-Marine is the first brand-independent service provider in The Netherlands with an approved workshop for repair and maintenance of propulsion systems. For brand-independent service providers who perform repair and maintenance work on maritime propulsion systems, approval of their workshop is completely new. AEGIR-Marine approached DNV-GL for the approval process, because this agency also supported the company in obtaining the ISO 9001 certification, the international standard for quality management systems.
AEGIR-Marine Adds Stabilizer Repair Services
AEGIR-Marine, full service provider for stern tube seals and propulsion systems for the maritime industry, said it has added stabilizer and steering gear repair services to its portfolio of maritime services. In February 2017 the company reinforced its team with Alan, a specialist in stabilizer engineering services. The Dutch company works with brand independent parts and provides service and parts for all major propulsion systems. AEGIR-Marine is now able to offer its ship owning customers a complete and integrated overhaul service. Of all the stabilizers, 99 percent are applied in navy and cruise ships and ferries. AEGIR Participates in Stern Tube Seal Research
AEGIR-Marine, working together with two Dutch technical universities, has launched two substantial research programs in the field of stern tube seals. āMarket and environmental requirements have changed and will keep changing,ā said Ruud Muis, managing director at AEGIR-Marine, āStern tube seals, however, have hardly evolved at all.
