Burger Boat Gets $2.9m Assist

Governor Jim Doyle announced a $2,880,128 project that will support improvements to the Burger Boat Company’s facility at the . The award is positioned to spur economic growth in the city of and the surrounding area. “The Burger Boat Company is a valued partner in ’s economy, and a valued part of ’s history,” Governor Doyle said. Burger Boat Company will receive $2,304,102 for the project from the state’s Harbor Assistance Program, and the company will provide the required 20 percent match, $576,026.

New GM at Burger Boat Company

Burger Boat Company announced that Bill Bitner has joined the Burger Executive Team as the new Vice-President/General Manager. Bitner has previously held positions as Allied Signal-Honeywell Aerospace Division and most recently, from Rolls-Royce Aerospace where he served as Vice President/General Manager for the last five years. Bitner holds an MBA in Global Management, Lean Manufacturing Certification and an Executive MBA Certification. As VP/General Manager, Bitner will gain efficiencies and make ongoing refinements to processes using training and communication techniques with the Burger Team.

Burger Boat Company Collaborates with Bentley

A collaboration was formed between Burger Boat Company – Monaco, Bentley-Cannes and HMS, audio visual systems to host a luxury brand Captain’s Happy Hour reception. The event drew nearly 70 guests who were entertained in the Bentley Automobile Showroom. Through the high tech world of HMS and their genius web rigging, attendees were able to view a live virtual tour of the new state-of-the-art Burger Shipyard in Manitowoc with President and CEO of Burger Boat Company, David Ross. “This reception gave us a unique opportunity to showcase our shipyard, the six yacht projects currently underway and share the spirit of Burger via live, real-time internet from halfway around the world,” states Ross.

Burger Elects Cleveringa as VP

Burger Boat Company announced the appointment of Ron Cleveringa to the newly created position of Vice President Sales and Marketing. was promoted to the Project Engineering Team in January 2007. University of Michigan in 1984. Business Administration from Grand Valley State University in 1994. than seven years ago. will begin in his new position immediately.

Burger Boat Buys Rare Burger Cruiser

Burger Boat Company announced the acquisition of Angus, a rare 48-foot steel-hulled Burger Cruiser built in 1939. Arriving in Manitowoc on Tuesday November 11, the 69 year old Burger made a brief stop at the Wisconsin Maritime Museum for local interested parties to see before continuing to the Burger shipyard. Angus will be restored to promote Burger Boat Company, its employees, and to celebrate the Burger product and its heritage. She will also be made available to the Wisconsin Maritime Museum for fund raising purposes.

INGOT Nominated, World Superyacht Awards

Burger Boat Company announced that INGOT,  a 153 ft Tri-Deck Motor Yacht, has been selected as a finalist for Boat International’s World Superyacht Awards in the category of “Best Displacement Motor Yacht Of Below 500gt.” Boat International Media will be presenting the fourth annual World Superyacht Award on May 16, 2009 at London’s historic Guildhall. The World Superyacht Awards are designed to recognize the talents of naval architects, designers, builders and ultimately, the visions of the owners who bring together the teams that work to create these vessels.

Burger Seeks Managing Director for European Office

Burger Boat is seeking for a Managing Director for its European office located in , coinciding with the transition of its current Manager, Guy Marchal, to his new career during the second quarter of 2008. Burger Boat Company expressed their appreciation for Guy's work in helping to develop brand recognition in the European markets and wishes him well in his new career.

Ingot and Tò-Kalòn Nominated for Awards

Burger Boat Company announced that Asia-Pacific Boating and China Boating magazines have nominated Tò-Kalòn, a 101 ft Burger Enclosed Bridge Motor Yacht, for “Most Innovative Exterior Yacht Design of the Year” and INGOT, a 153 ft Burger Tri-Deck Motor Yacht, for “Best Motor Yacht” (86 feet and up) for the 2009 Asia Boating Awards. The Annual Asia Boating Award was created by Asia-Pacific Boating and China Boating magazines to recognize the best of the maritime industry. ShowBoats Int’l Award to Burger Boat’s Ingot

Burger Boat Company is announced the presentation of the 19th Annual ShowBoats International Award for Best Motor Yacht Under 50m to Ingot, a 153-ft Tri Deck Motor Yacht, on October 31, 2009 in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. This award recognizes a motor yacht that accomplishes the goals of her owner, builder and designer with undeniable style. Burger Boat Company’s Ingot premiered at the 2008 Ft. Lauderdale International Boat Show and was extremely popular at the 2009 Monaco Yacht Show. Designed to be an environmentally friendly yacht, Ingot provides 5,025 square feet of interior space and 4,150 square feet of exterior deck and leisure space.

Burger Boat Launches Wendella Passenger Vessel

Burger Boat Company announced the launch of P/V Lucia, an 89-foot steel passenger vessel for Wendella Sightseeing Company, Inc. Lucia, designed by Timothy Graul Marine Design of Sturgeon Bay, Wisc., was launched into the Manitowoc River Friday, May 29 with her owners, the Burger staff and the Manitowoc community in attendance. Lucia is styled after other vessels in Wendella's fleet and will be used for its Combined Lake and River Tour, the Chicago River Architecture Tour, specialty cruises and private events.

Burger Boat Launches its Largest Yacht

Burger Boat shipyard launched the m, Mirgab V on Saturday. The tri-deck yacht, christened at the Manitowoc River, was constructed for Mohammed Alshaya, a Kuwaiti executive whose family business employs about 7,000 people, working in some 1,000 stores in the Middle East, including about 200 Starbucks Coffee outlets. According to company executives, the megayacht is the company's first mega-yacht in Burger's new niche of building boats ranging from 115 to 200 ft. in length. It is the company's first yacht to be fully Maritime and Coastguard Agency- and American Bureau of Shipping-certified as a truly ocean-worthy vessel. Source: Herald Times Reporter

Burger Hosts Great Lakes Gathering

Burger Boat Company held its first Great Lakes Gathering July 22-24, 2011 at Bay Harbor Resort, Bay Harbor, Michigan for yacht owners, their guests, captains and crew. A variety of yachts, ranging from a 1937 36’ Burger to a 2003 127’ Tri-Deck Burger, cruised to Bay Harbor for the three-day event. Owners and their guests had the opportunity to meet the Burger staff and join other attendees at various events, including a dinner with a bonfire on the shores of Little Traverse Bay, a private luncheon in Harbor Springs, a Saturday evening Yacht Hop and an Owners and Captains Roundtable discussion.

Burger Elects Beilman as VP

Burger Boat Company announced the appointment of Ronald J. Beilman to the newly created position of Vice President Engineering and Design. Joining Burger Boat Company in November 1997 as a Manufacturing/Tooling engineer, Ron was promoted to the Design department as a Joiner/Furniture Designer in July 1999 and was again promoted to Joiner Design Manager in June 2004. In November of 2005 Ron was promoted to the position of Director of Design, a position he has held until this new promotion overseeing all of engineering and design. Reporting directly to Owen Howell, Sr. Vice President Operations, Ron will begin in his new position immediately.

Burger Boat Returns to Commercial Boat Building

Burger Boat Company is pleased to announce the upcoming delivery of a 60’ Fisheries Research Vessel, R/V Coregonus, to the Wisconsin Department of Resources in April 2011. This commercial vessel marks the reinstatement of commercial boat building for Burger Boat Company. Length, o.a. Designer SeaCraft Design LLC, Sturgeon Bay, Wis.

Burger Boat Delivers Chicago Passenger Vessel

Burger Boat Company announced the delivery of a 98-foot steel passenger vessel to Chicago's First Lady Cruises in Chicago. The vessel, Chicago’s Classic Lady, was designed by Seacraft Design, LLC of Sturgeon Bay, Wisc. Chicago’s Classic Lady departed the Burger shipyard Saturday afternoon, May 10, 2014, on her delivery voyage to the Chicago waterfront, arriving early the next morning. Built by Burger Boat Company of Manitowoc, Wisc., Chicago’s Classic Lady is powered by two Caterpillar C12 main engines and has two Caterpillar C4.4 generators.

Burger, Awlgrip Create Composite Material

Burger Boat Company has just launched the SYCARA IV, a motor yacht in the tradition of J. P. Morgan’s Corsair. The engineers at Burger were challenged to create a composite mast and bow sprit, but wished to maintain the look and feel of wood in keeping with the style of the boat. Working with Awlgrip, the two companies developed a system that uses all-Awlgrip products to create faux wood that will look and last as long as any of Awlgrip’s remarkable coatings.  

Burger Boat, Setzer Design Futuristic Vessel

The 185 ft Specter offers up to five cabins below, each with oversized port lights providing exceptional views. The elaborate owner’s suite would include recessed hull-side balconies providing additional living space and private outside retreats. Generous accommodations for a crew of 12 would be situated forward. This design offers possible amenities such as a large theater, gym with spa, observation rooms and two galley areas. A large helicopter deck can be incorporated to extend above the sun deck while a cabana can be located aft with dockage doors that deploy port and starboard.

Feature: Burger Set to Launch 3 Megayachts

Burger Boat Company, whose roots extend back to when Abraham Lincoln was President, is set to launch three megayachts during the second half of 2003. The company builds aluminum motor yachts in the 82 to 165 ft. range at prices from $5 million and up. The largest motor yacht yet built by Burger is set for a June 14 launch. Called the Sis W, the vessel is owned by Charles R. Walgreen Jr., the 95-year old owner of the Walgreen Drug Store chain. At 95, Mr. Walgreen, has purchased his fourth Burger yacht and plans to cruise extensively in his new yacht, just the prescription for a man with his zest for living. In later summer, Burger will deliver the Top Times, a 112-ft. full displacement yacht of the expedition design, built for worldwide cruising.

Burger Yachts Sales Relocates

Burger Yacht Sales continues to reside within the located on the corner of and Quay. The move, to , Suite A-129, , will take place the week of November 10, 2008. Burger Boat Company builds custom yachts, in aluminum and/or steel, up to 200' (60m).

Burger Boat Honored by Maritime Museum

The Wisconsin Maritime Museum in Manitowoc, Wisconsin held its 7th Annual Commodore’s Ball Saturday October 3, 2009. This year’s theme was “The Burger Tradition: Past and Present,” celebrated the heritage of Wisconsin's own world-class yacht builder by commemorating Burger Boat Company’s rich history dating back to 1863. The black-tie event is a major fundraiser for the museum and includes a raffle as well as silent and live auctions. The highlight of the live auction was a package donated by Burger. It included an exclusive tour of Burger’s facilities and a private cruise, complete with wine and hors d’oeuvres, for eight aboard the 1939 48’ Burger motor yacht Angus. Funds raised from the event are used for educational purposes and day-to-day operations of the museum.

Burger Boat at Dubai Boat Show

Burger Boat Company of Manitowoc, WI USA, will be participating in the Dubai International Boat Show March 3-7, 2009, held at the Dubai International Marine Club – Mina Seyahi.  Visit us at stand F1-4. Dry Blue Star Returns to the Burger Shipyard

Blue Star, a 1987 86.5 ft Raised Pilot House Burger, returned home to the Burger shipyard to have routine maintenance performed. She arrived at the shipyard Tuesday June 9, 2009 after a 10 hour run from Grand Haven, Michigan where she had spent the winter. Once at the Burger facilities she was hauled utilizing Burger’s 500mt Marine Travelift. The Burger Service Team is working closely with the Captain and crew of to assure a rapid return to the water as she is scheduled to spend most of her summer cruising Lake Superior.
