Dutch shipbuilder Damen Shipyards has sued the Dutch government over damages it says it has suffered due to European sanctions against Russia.Damen, which produces a wide-ranging fleet of industrial and military vessels and luxury yachts, is seeking compensation for business lost due to the sanctions, company spokesman Rick van de Weg said, confirming an earlier report by Bloomberg.Damen had delivery contracts for a number of vessels across the company's portfolio that were scrapped by the sanctions invoked by Russia's invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, Van de Weg said.Damen had an engineer

Royal Huisman Takes on Holland Jachtbouw Yard

Port of Amsterdam officially joined the HISWA Holland Yachting Group as a partner on, presenting itself as a new partner to the members during the annual HISWA summer event. Port of Amsterdam and the yacht manufacturer had crossed paths before, as Royal van Lent recently expanded its operations by building a brand-new wharf in the port area. 'World's First Hybrid Superyacht'
Developed by Dutch shipbuilders Feadship, the 83.5m Savannah is touted as the world's first hybrid super yacht. Vessel is 30% more fuel efficient than similar sized counterparts, claims the company. The eco-friendly super yacht uses a blend of a single diesel engine, three gensets, batteries, propeller and an azimuth thruster. The model comes as a result of the 2010 Feadship Future Concept Breathe, demonstrating a cleaner and more cost-effective mode of propulsion. With a dynamic and streamlined hull shape, Savannah uses one efficient medium-speed Wartsila main engine instead of two higher-rev diesel motors, a single central propeller shaft installation on the centreline and three gensets.

Holland's Feadship say they have launched the 46.22-metre semi-displacement motoryacht 'Como', created for the highly experienced New Zealand yachtsman Neville Crichton. Navis Engineering has concluded a contract from Alpahtron Marine to supply a dynamic positioning (DP) system to the largest superyacht to be constructed in The Netherlands, the 99m Madame Gu. Built at Feadship in steel and aluminium over the course of a four-year period, the superyacht is powered by four MTU 20v diesel engines and can reach a maximum speed of 24 knots. It has a beam of 13.6m, a maximum draught of 4.6m, is classed by Lloydâs Register and is MCA compliant. Madame Guâs particular features include accommodation for up to 12 guests in six state rooms including a master state room and five guest cabins. The vessel also carries a crew of 36, sleeping in 18 crew cabins. Special amenities include a fully enclosed helicopter hangar, two 11m yacht tenders and scuba gear.
Megayacht Back to Feadship for Second Refit
Feadship has welcomed home the 71.60-m (235-ft) 'Utopia' for a range of maintenance activities and technical upgrades. Originally launched in 2004, this is the second time Utopia has returned to Feadship for a refit, the first being a successful project in 2007 to personalise the yacht to her then new ownerâs requirements. Feadship has launched the 57.60-metre twin-screw motoryacht with an interior from Bannenberg & Rowell Design. Larisa features a contemporary classic exterior profile, with a wide range of modern features. The strong curvaceous signature lines of the design are supported by a straight knuckle that runs all the way round the yacht from the bow to the stern. At the launch ceremony, Feadship director Henk de Vries praised the excellent cooperation with the owner's team, Bannenberg & Rowell Design and the captain.
Feadship Launches First Superyacht for Mainland China
Holland's Feadship launches the 44.65-metre 'Blue Sky' in a ceremony combining the Chinese & Dutch maritime cultures. Feadship say that this is the first superyacht to be built by a Western shipyard for a client in mainland China. The owner sent his personal representative to accept delivery of the new megayacht that comes with her own helicopter deck and dedicated karaoke and Mah-jong rooms. The twin-screw Blue Sky powered by two MTU 12V2000M70 â 788 main engines, has a steel hull and aluminium superstructure, with an exterior styling developed by Feadship and Sinot Yacht Design.
