Orsted Opens Borssele 1&2 O&M Base

The global leader in offshore wind Ørsted has opened the operations & maintenance (O&M) base for the Borssele 1 + 2 offshore wind farm in Vlissingen, the Netherlands. The opening was organized together with Energy Port Zeeland.All construction work and maintenance will be coordinated from the new base, which is located in Vlissingen-Buitenhaven at the North Sea Port. Borssele 1 + 2 will be operational at the end of this year.The maintenance location was officially opened by deputy Jo-Annes de Bat of Zeeland…

TMA Logistics Wins SGRE Work

Dutch outfit TMA Logistics has been commissioned by Siemens Gamesa Renewables Energy (SGRE) to provide the transhipment and transhipment of wind turbines for Windpark Fryslân.Wind farm Fryslan comprises 89 wind turbines that will be realised in the Frisian part of the IJsselmeer, near Breezanddijk. The project is expected to start in August 2020 and the wind farm will supply electricity to ± 500,000 households.SGRE is carrying out the project in close cooperation with Van Oord Offshore Wind BV. Van Oord is laying the foundations and laying the cables and monopiles.

SGRE Completes Senvion Purchase

SGRE Reaches $1.9Bn Green Guarantee Lines

Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy (SGRE) has announced that in less than a year, and aligned to its commitment to sustainability it has accumulated €1.72 billion ($1.9Bn) in green guarantee lines."SGRE is moving forward in its strategy of making sustainability a key element of all aspects of its business, including its funding strategy," said a press statement.Siemens Gamesa recently extended a guarantee line from Danske Bank to €150 million from an initial €100 million and included Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) criteria.

DEME Unveils First SOV for Offshore Wind

Belgium-based offshore wind installation specialist Dredging, Environmental and Marine Engineering NV (DEME) has started building its first service operation vessel (SOV), which will be chartered by Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy (SGRE) for work at three Belgian offshore wind farms (OWF).Concepted by DEME and further designed in close cooperation with Vuyk Engineering Rotterdam and Marin , this innovative vessel  significantly improves safety, comfort and workability for wind farm technicians even in the roughest sea conditions.

SGRE Raises $1.6Bln in ‘Green’ Credit

Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy (SGRE) has announced that, in less than a year, it has accumulated €1.48 billion ($1.6Bln) in green guarantee lines.The turbine maker has just completed a deal with Societe Generale to convert a 230 million euro guarantee line to "green”. SGRE Wins Hai Long 2 OWP

Spanish global renewable energy company Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy (SGRE) has been selected as the preferred supplier of turbines for the 300MW Hai Long 2 offshore wind project in Taiwan.The agreement is subject to contract and final investment decision from the consortium partners, Canadian independent power producer Northland Power Inc. and Taiwan-based developer Yushan Energy.The 300 MW Hai Long 2 offshore wind power plant project was awarded through the 2018 grid allocation mechanism in Taiwan. The project site is located approximately 50 kilometers off the coast of Changhua County.

Orsted Breaks Ground for Taiwan OWP

Construction of Taiwan's Formosa 2, an offshore wind power (OWP) development project, officially broke ground in Miaoli County.Orsted Taiwan said in a statement that it held a ground-breaking ceremony for the onshore substation works for the 900MW Greater Changhua 1&2a offshore wind farm off Taiwan.Ørsted awarded an onshore substation EPC contract to TCC last November. TCC will build two onshore substations, cable corridors, and transition joint bays for the first 900MW Greater Changhua projects.

SGRE Powers Google in Sweden

SGRE Posts 10.9% Growth in Offshore Sector

Spanish-based engineering company Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy  (SGRE) closed the fiscal year ended September 30 with double-digit growth (+10.9%) in offshore unit due to new markets, mainly Taiwan, which contributed 1.5 GW in firm orders.Meanwhile, Service orders increased by 13.4% in FY 2019, to €2,715m. This business unit, which contributes with very profitable contracts, accounts for 47% of the company's order book.Wind power has strong potential and significant growth opportunities in the long-term.

Offshore Wind: New York Moves on Sunrise

Sunrise Wind, a joint venture of Ørsted A/S and Eversource Energy, has signed a 25-year OREC purchase-and-sale agreement with the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA).Earlier in July 2019, New York selected Sunrise Wind as the preferred bidder for an 880MW offshore wind farm (OWF).The Sunrise Wind project has an average all-in development cost of USD80.64 per MWh (2018 prices) with an expected average OREC cost of USD22.62 per MWh.Sunrise Wind is the world’s leading offshore wind developer, and Eversource, New England’s largest energy company.

Siemens Gamesa Wins 250MW Gig in Egypt

Siemens Gamesa has pledged its further commitment to the growth of clean energy in Egypt through the construction of the 250 MW West Bakr Wind project which is owned by the renewable power generation company Lekela.Siemens Gamesa will install 96 SG 2.6-114 turbines through a turnkey EPC contract and will provide long term maintenance through a 15-year service agreement.Alfonso Faubel, SGRE Onshore CEO, said: “We are proud to have been selected to contribute to the ambitious goals in renewable energy the Government has set for the coming years.

SGRE Wins 200-MW Turbine Order in China

Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy SA (SGRE) has secured a deal to supply 4.X turbines for a 200MW wind farm in China, its first contract for the platform in the market.The Spanish-German group will deliver 42 machines rated at 4.8MW to the project developed by Xinjiang TBEA Group in Xinjiang, northwest China. The company will also provide operation and maintenance services for five years.This is the second order that SGRE has received from TBEA, strengthening the partnership between both companies.
