Petrobras Orders 10th FPSO for Búzios Field

Brazilian oil and gas company Petrobras has ordered a floating, production, storage, and offloading (FPSO) vessel from Singapore's Sembcorp Marine Rigs & Floaters.The FPSO, named P-82, will be deployed at the giant Búzios oil field, in the Santos Basin pre-salt area, offshore Brazil.Worth US$3.05 billion (S$4.25 billion) the P-82 is the largest contract secured by Sembcorp Marine from PetrobrasThe P-82 will have the capacity to produce up to 225 thousand barrels of oil per day, process up to 12 million m³of  gas per day, and store more than 1.6 million barrels.

Newport Shipping Inks LNG Deal with LGM Engineering

Newport Shipping announces it will be working with global liquefied natural gas (LNG) market service provider Gloryholder Liquified Gas Machinery (DL) Co., Ltd (LGM Engineering).The agreement between the two companies was signed in February and will see LGM Engineering supply LNG solutions for Newport Shipping’s retrofit projects.In June LGM Engineering signed a contract to design and supply LNG fuel gas supply system for two 13,000 DWT chemical tankers with Jiangsu New Yangzi Shipbuilding Company Limited (YZJ). The shipowner is Tarbit Tankers B.V, and the classification society is Bureau Veritas (BV).The complete LNG fuel gas supply system delivered by LGM Engineering includes the design and manufacture of double vacuum insulated LNG fuel tanks with integrated tank connection space (TCS)…

Four new escort tugs designed by Robert Allan Ltd. and constructed at the Triyards SSY facility in Saigon, Vietnam, by contract to Greenbay Marine Services Pte. of Singapore, have been delivered to owner Star Marine Ltd. of Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.The four RAstar 3400 escort tugs, named Murjan 1, 2, 3, and 4, will be stationed in the Red Sea port of Rabigh, Saudi Arabia, and managed by Marine Services Co. Two Canadian Ferries to be Converted for LNG Operation

Wärtsilä has been awarded the contract by Gdansk Shiprepair Yard Remontowa S.A., to supply a scope of engines, propulsion machinery, integrated automation systems, and gas handling systems required for the mid-life upgrading of two RoPax ferries and their conversion to operate on LNG fuel. The ferries, the Spirit of British Columbia and the Spirit of Vancouver, are the flagship vessels of British Columbia Ferry Services based in Victoria, Canada. The work will be carried by the Remontowa Shiprepair yard in Poland. The contract with Wärtsilä was placed in March 2016.

Gibdock Gets Strategic with HMS Scott

Gibdock’s strategic location has been brought into sharp focus with the docking of HMS Scott, the largest vessel in the Royal Navy's Hydrographic Squadron, for a recent 19-day maintenance period at the Gibraltar yard. Work took place as part of the MOD UK’s Commercially Supported Shipping (CSS) Teams Through Life Support (TLS) contract with main contractor Babcock. The TLS contract, which runs to 2018, includes fleet time maintenance, design services and spares management. “Recent world events suggest that the Royal Navy will highly prize support from strategically-located facilities that can deliver vessels back into service on schedule and to high quality standards,” said Richard Beards, Gibdock Managing Director.

Three More Workboats for Jordan

Sanmar Shipyards delivered three more vessels to the Aqaba Port Marine Services Company (APMSCO) for the Sheikh Subah Al Ahmad Al Subah LNG terminal at Aqaba, Jordan. The overall contract comprises four 80-tonne bollard pull specially modified Terminal RAstar 2800 ASD tugs, two conventional twin screw Rascal 1500 line-handling tugs, all designed by Robert Allan Ltd of Canada, and a pilot boat designed by Camarc Ltd in the UK. This latest delivery comprises the second RAstar, Petra 3, a RAscal 1500 line-handling tug, Aldaem,and a 16.7m Pilot boat called Al Sanad.

RAstar Tugs Selected Again for LNG Terminal Support

The Robert Allan Ltd. RAstar Series tugs are well proven LNG terminal support/escort tugs, in operation at major LNG facilities worldwide, including terminals in the United Kingdom, Yemen, Mexico, Indonesia, Norway, and the United States. Now Smit Lamalco has introduced five new RAstar 3400 escort tugs to the Port of Gladstone in Australia for LNG terminal support with the fifth and final vessel having just safely arrived in the Port. The five tugs SL Curtis Island, SL Quoin Island, SL Boyne Island, SL Heron Island, and SL Wiggins Island are named after local islands and will serve LNG export terminals in the Port. The tugs will be required to escort LNG carriers through an exposed channel which can be subject to adverse environmental conditions, and then assist them safely to the berths.

Kongsberg Maritime to Equip Yinson Genesis FPSO

Kongsberg Maritime has been selected to supply a complete Electrical, Instrument and Telecom solution, including E- house, for the new Yinson Production (West Africa) Pte Ltd FPSO, ‘Yinson Genesis’. According to the company, the contract is valued at approximately NOK 200 million ($26.2 million) and the FPSO is expected to be operational by 2017. The Yinson Genesis will be deployed to fulfill a 15-year contract (with five yearly extension options) for the chartering, operation and maintenance of an FPSO facility at the Offshore Cape Three Points Block (OCTP), in the Tano basin, 60 km off the coast of Ghana. The contract was awarded by Eni Ghana Exploration and Production to a consortium consisting of Yinson Production (West Africa) Pte Ltd and Yinson Production West Africa Ltd.

L-3 SAM Electronics to Equip Two OSVs

L-3 SAM Electronics has been awarded a contract to provide the complete electrical package, including cable engineering and installation, energy distribution, propulsion, lighting and infotainment systems, as well as internal and external communications systems, for two offshore supply vessels for the Norwegian shipowner, Siem Offshore. Built by Flensburger Schiffbau-Gesellschaft (FSG), located in northern Germany, the 155-meter-long and 31-meter-wide ships are due to be delivered in February and July 2016.

Kongsberg to Supply FPSO Safety System

Kongsberg Maritime Engineering (KME), the wholly owned Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) subsidiary of global maritime technology developer Kongsberg Maritime, will deliver an Integrated Control and Safety System for the new BW Offshore Catcher FPSO. The contract follows BW Offshore’s signing of a lease and operate contract with Premier Oil and its joint venture partners at the end of April 2014 for a FPSO to operate on the Catcher oil field in the U.K. North Sea. The field is owned by Premier Oil (50%, operator), Cairn Energy (30%) and MOL (20%). BW Offshore's scope includes the delivery of the FPSO, mooring system, installation and operation of the unit throughout the charter period.

Damen Delivers Fire Fighting Vessel to City of Bremen

Damen Shipyards has recently delivered the ‘Bremen 1’ to the City of Bremen (Germany) to replace its 1975-built predecessor. Both the local police force and the fire brigade will use the Damen Fire Fighting Vessel 2406 (FFV) for emergency response. The police will patrol the Port of Bremen and the Weser River with the newbuild. The Bremen 1 measures 24m x 6m. Its three waterjets and single bow thruster are largely responsible for the ship’s excellent manoeuvrability and generate a top-speed of 40 km/h.

Consilium to Supply Two Princess Cruise Ships

Fincantieri and Princess Cruises have chosen Consilium to outfit the new 141,000 GT under construction, Royal Princess, and her yet-to-be-named sister, with the safety system in compliance with the latest regulation "Safe Return to Port". The two vessels are prototype ships for Princess Cruise brand. At 141,000 gross tons with a maximum passenger capacity of 3,600, they will be the largest cruise ships ever built by Fincantieri and the flagships of Princess Cruises fleet. The configuration of the Salwico Safety system includes 7 interactive and double-redundant control units, utilizing the unique Salwi-com protocol compliant with Safe Return to Port. Martek Gas Detection Contract with Canadian Navy

UK-based Martek Marine has signed a breakthrough contract with the Canadian Navy. ABS Prepares For Anticipated LNG Growth

With the global LNG (liquefied natural gas) market forecast to double in size over the next decade, industry is readying to provide ample liquefaction capacity to meet demand. In the United States alone, LNG imports reached 4.9 million tons in 2000, about 5 percent of the global LNG trade, and up from 3.4 million tons in 1999. Drivers for the rapid LNG growth include continued demand for a cleaner-burning fuel and the need to bring "stranded" gas from deepwater and remote areas to market.
