General Dynamics has completed its acquisition of CSRA. The transaction is valued at approximately $9.7 billion. CSRA provides services in support of Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) Major Defense Acquisition Programs and other programs through a number of SeaPort Enhanced (SeaPort-e) task orders and a other smaller contract vehicles. The Navy is committed to avoiding and mitigating any actual or perceived Organizational Conflict of Interest (OCI) that may arise from this transaction, said a press statement from NAVSEA. - General Dynamics intends to keep CSRA Inc. and other CSRA Inc. entities intact for a period of time. CSRA will be a managed affiliate and sister company of General Dynamics Information Technology, Inc. - CSRA Inc.

General Dynamics has completed its acquisition of CSRA Inc. The transaction, valued at approximately $9.7 billion, is expected to be accretive to GAAP earnings per share and to free cash flow per share in 2019, and is expected to generate estimated annual pre-tax cost savings of approximately 2 percent of the combined company’s revenue by 2020. CSRA is now part of General Dynamics Information Technology. This combination creates a premier provider of high-tech IT solutions to the government IT market. “The combined CSRA and GDIT offers innovative, competitive and compelling solutions to our customers, and provides attractive free cash flow coupled with good incremental return on capital for investors,” said Phebe Novakovic, chairman and chief executive officer of General Dynamics.

General Dynamics Information Technology, a business unit of General Dynamics, was awarded a contract by the U.S. Naval Sea Systems Command to provide enterprise IT and cybersecurity services to the Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC) Crane Division. The single-award, task order contract has a potential value of approximately $81.3 million for five years. General Dynamics along with Purdue University and 10 Indiana-based companies will provide the NSWC Crane Division with enterprise IT service management, cybersecurity, systems engineering, data protection, cross domain security and information exchange and technical advisory services management. Work on this contract will be performed in Crane, Ind.

U.S. Navy to update curriculum and training-related programs for surface force operations and combat systems globally. General Dynamics Information Technology, a business unit of General Dynamics, was awarded the Training Services for the Center for Surface Combat Systems (CSCS) contract by the Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division. The single-award contract has a potential value of approximately $244 million for a one-year base period with four option years. General Dynamics will provide training and training-related program support services, from curriculum development to advanced warfare training across the CSCS domain, which includes their 15 learning sites and detachments and International Programs.

General Dynamics Information Technology, a business unit of General Dynamics (NYSE: GD), was awarded a contract to provide information technology services and security assistance support to the Naval Supply Systems Command Weapon Systems Support (NAVSUP WSS) and Navy International Programs Office. The 48-month contract value is $46.7 million. Under this contract, General Dynamics will provide the U.S. Navy with support for project, financial and logistical analysis and management; IT services; cooperative programs; and international training and educational programs. Work on the contract is being performed in Philadelphia, PA; Washington, D.C.; Pensacola, FL; and Dayton, OH.

General Dynamics successfully completed the initial field deployment and test of the Remote Video Surveillance System (RVSS) upgrade for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Customs and Border Protection (CBP). This test demonstrated many technical capabilities of the RVSS system and is a key program milestone in its deployment schedule. U.S. Border Patrol agents are currently operating the RVSS in Nogales, Ariz., and CBP has also initiated deployments in both Naco and Douglas, Ariz. "The Remote Video Surveillance System is a critical element of our overall plan to secure the border, increase our mission effectiveness and protect our agents," said Mark Borkowski, assistant commissioner and chief acquisition executive of CBP's Office of Technology Innovation and Acquisition.

General Dynamics NASSCO has been awarded a $24.1 million contract by the U.S. Navy for Littoral Combat Ships (LCS) sustainment execution in support of LCS' home-ported in or visiting San Diego. General Dynamics NASSCO is a business unit of General Dynamics (NYSE: GD). Under the contract, General Dynamics NASSCO will plan, furnish material and provide support and facilities to maintain and modernize twelve LCS-class ships. This contract covers both variants, Freedom and Independence. These ships are fast, agile, focused-mission platforms designed for operation in near-shore environments and capable of open-ocean operation. The board of directors of General Dynamics has elected S. Daniel Johnson to be executive vice president, Information Systems and Technology, effective January 1, 2015, to succeed David K. Heebner, who has informed the company of his intention to retire on December 31, 2014. Johnson will also continue in his role as president of General Dynamics Information Technology, a business unit of General Dynamics. In announcing the board's action, Phebe N. Novakovic, chairman and chief executive officer, said, "David Heebner has had an exemplary career at General Dynamics, having served in leadership positions in all of our defense businesses and at corporate headquarters. Arkansas was the first state to implement this type of statewide payment reform initiative that rewards service providers for providing high-quality, cost-effective care under the Medicaid program. General Dynamics Land Systems, a business unit of General Dynamics is continuing work on an Amphibious Combat Vehicle (ACV) solution for the U.S. Marine Corps. The recently awarded five-month contract extension, valued at $7 million, continues General Dynamics' ongoing work to determine the best option for developing an affordable, survivable and high water speed ACV platform for the Marine Corps. The effort includes flexibility and modularity analysis of the requirements, concept refinement and experimentation planning, which will help the Marine Corps understand the risks and determine the best approach for developing the ACV. The work will be completed by existing employees in Sterling Heights.

The US Department of Defense informs it has awarded contract modifications to previously awarded contracts with BAE Systems Land & Armaments, as well as with General Dynamics Information Technology to understand the risks and assist the government in determining the best approach for developing a High Waterspeed Amphibious Combat Vehicle (ACV). The DoD explains that detailed trade studies, requirements studies, operational effectiveness analyses and initial concept design results have been reported to Marine Corps leadership and the assistant secretary of the Navy research, development and acquisition by each of the companies named.

General Dynamics Advanced Information Systems, a business unit of General Dynamics, completed the comprehensive risk reduction program for the U.S. Navy’s Knifefish Surface Mine Countermeasure Unmanned Undersea Vehicle (UUV) program. Designed to discover any potential systems defect early on in the program’s development phase, the configuration item test (CIT) successfully verified key components within the UUV system including the hardware architecture and critical areas of hardware and software integration.

General Dynamics announced that Thomas W. Kirchmaier has been elected a vice president of the corporation and appointed as president of General Dynamics Advanced Information Systems, reporting to David K. Heebner, executive vice president of the company's Information Systems and Technology group. Kirchmaier succeeds Lewis F. Von Thaer, who resigned in April. The appointment is effective immediately. Kirchmaier, has been the senior vice president and general manager of the Intelligence Solutions division of General Dynamics Information Technology since 2007, leading a worldwide organization with more than 4,600 professionals which provides high-technology solutions for the U.S. intelligence community, selected DoD commands and agencies, their coalition partners and NATO.

The five-year indefinite-delivery, indefinite quantity contract has a potential value of $73.3 million if all options are exercised. Through the contract, General Dynamics will support HM&E machinery and systems on Navy vessels and select land-based sites, as well as other federal agency and federally contracted vessels. These services include prototype engineering,  design, development, testing, performance specifications and data analysis, system fault tree and safety analysis, computer programming and software engineering.

The company will provide IT engineering and professional services for the US Navy's Smart Carrier program at its , Carderock Division in . It will support modernization operations including testing and installation of new machinery control monitoring systems, distributed data and control networks, and navigation and ship control systems. The Navy has awarded contracts potentially worth $256.1m to six companies to provide education and training services.  The winners are EG&G Technical Services Inc., General Dynamics Information Technology, Lockheed Martin Corp., Technical Software Services Inc., Raytheon Technical Services Co. and Carley Corp., the Defense Department said Aug. 22.  The companies will provide education and training products and support services for the Navy’s Manpower, Personnel, Training and Education Enterprise program.
