Global Trade Center Stage at Poland’s Maritime Conference

The biggest annual gathering of Poland’s maritime industry leaders, the Maritime Economy Forum Gdynia is unveiling its program.The day-long event, now in its 19th year, takes place on October 11 in Gdynia, featuring 30 speakers with 600 senior figures from Poland’s maritime sector and around the world expected to attend.Forum chairman Slawomir Kalicki said the conference will see a morning session examine some of the biggest issues facing the international maritime sector, worth an estimated $3-$6 trillion a year, from an EU, Baltic Sea and Polish perspective.

New Scrubber Service Station at Portland Port

Intermarine UK struck an agreement with a Chinese manufacturer to make the Port of Portland one of the UK’s centers for scrubber installation.Intermarine President Slawomir Kalicki signed the agreement at Norshipping in Oslo with counterpart DB Wang deputy general manager of the Shandong Pure Ocean Technology based in Renhe Town in the Shandong province. The deal will see Intermarine act as an agent to Shandong and offer to install its scrubber systems to a wide variety of vessels to help them meet tough new environmental regulations.

Zeaborn Takes Full Ownership of Zeamarine

The ZEABORN Group has signed an agreement to acquire the remaining ownership interests in ZEAMARINE held by New Mountain Capital.The ZEAMARINE joint venture was formed in August 2018 when New Mountain Capital and ZEABORN agreed to combine the commercial activities of Intermarine, ZEABORN Chartering and Rickmers-Line under the umbrella of ZEAMARINE, creating one of the world’s largest MPP carriers.The most recent transaction is subject to approval from the antitrust authorities.

Zeamarine Appoints Hugo Trumpy for Italy

The leading provider of global tramp and liner services for the ocean transportation of heavy lift Zemarine has appointed Hugo Trumpy as exclusive agent for the Italian market.With more than 100 years of combined experience, Intermarine, Zeaborn and Rickmers-Line have combined and consolidated operations to unite as Zeamarine, a new and trusted industry leader, said a press release.The JV will have more than 85 vessels and is expected to exceed 100 vessels by year-end. The near-term strategy for the new, one group one company Zeamarine is growth, improved customer service; and a continued search for opportunities to build the business.Zeamarine operates those multi-purpose heavy lift vessels with deadweight capacities between 6.300 and 30.000 dwat, representing a market share of about 15%.

Intermarine Enters Joint Venture with Zeaborn Group

Maritime Holdings Delaware, LLC, parent company of project, breakbulk and heavylift cargo carrier Intermarine, LLC has entered into a joint venture agreement with Zeaborn Group.The joint venture entity, ZeaMarine GmbH, will include the transfer of assets and operating entities from Zeaborn´s commercial activities as well as Zeaborn-owned Rickmers Line GmbH and Maritime Holdings-owned Intermarine, LLC.The shareholders of the newly-formed ZEAMARINE will also commit to fund new capital to grow the joint venture. Zeaborn Group will serve as the majority shareholder.

Intermarine Appoints Alejandro Pla as Mexico Manager

Intermarine, LLC, a global leader in the transport of project, breakbulk and heavylift cargo, has named Alejandro Pla as Country Manager – Mexico. He will be based in Mexico, City. Pla has more than 24 years of experience in a variety of roles in shipping and logistics. Most recently, he served as Chartering Manager for Representaciones Maritimas S.A. agency in Mexico City where he oversaw commercial and chartering activity for the group and their clients. In his role with Intermarine, Pla will match worldwide cargo opportunities with the Company’s regional chartering desks and work closely with line management on established routes.

Project, breakbulk and heavylift cargo transporter Intermarine, LLC said its president and CEO, Al Stanley, has stepped down to pursue other opportunities. Stanley was succeeded by Andre Grikitis, who assumed the role of President & CEO of Intermarine, LLC and Industrial Maritime Carriers, LLC and is responsible for the international flag services. Additionally, Will Terrill has assumed the role of president and CEO of US Ocean, LLC and is responsible for the company’s U.S. Flag services.

Dive Support Vessel Delivered in Brazil

Oceanicasub V, the second of a pair of 43m Monohull Subsea Dive Support Vessels (SDSV), has been delivered for owner and operater Oceanica of Rio de Janeiro for charter by Petrobras. Oceanicasub V was constructed by Arpoador Shipyard in Guaruja’, Brazil. The design is the culmination of a close collaboration by the designer Incat Crowther, builder and operator. The RINA-classed vessel is equipped for a crew complement of 36 and features an array of dive support equipment including deck crane, ROV A-frame, dive bell A-frame, hyperbaric chamber, HIPAP, rescue/workboat with associated davit and all necessary dive operations related spaces and equipment.

Royce to Power High-speed Italian Naval Vessels

The construction of two new high-speed multipurpose vessels (UNPAV) for the Italian Navy has recently begun at Intermarine’s Sarzana shipyard. Rolls-Royce has won the contract to supply engines and waterjets to power and propel the two new vessels, which will be used by the Operational Incursion Group (Gruppo Operativo Incursori or G.O.I), the Special Forces of the Italian Navy, for maritime traffic control, combating human trafficking, counter terror and antipiracy operations and crisis evacuations.

Cargo Ship Crew Awarded for Heroism at Sea

Officers and crewmembers of the Crowley Maritime Corp.-managed cargo ship M/V Ocean Glory were recently honored with a 2016 Admiral of the Ocean Sea (AOTOS) Mariners’ Plaque for demonstrating heroism at sea during the United Seamen’s Service’s (USS) annual AOTOS awards ceremony in New York. The mariners were recognized for their August 2016 rescue of an Indonesian fisherman in the vicinity of the Bali Strait while en route to Banyuwangi, Indonesia. Accepting the award on behalf of the ship's officers and crew was Capt. Christopher Hill, master on the M/V Ocean Glory.

Intermarine's Industrial Skipper Completes Maiden Voyage

Intermarine, LLC announced the July delivery of the M/V Industrial Skipper from Shandong Huanghai shipyard in Rongcheng, China. The ship transported modules to Corpus Christi, Texas, for her maiden voyage. The 12,500 DWT, 147 meter, Ecolift 500 vessel features two cranes with a combined lifting capacity of 500 metric tons. Designed to be more ecologically friendly, the Ecolift 500 fleet boasts reduced consumption and lowered greenhouse emissions all while complying with the latest waste water requirements and ECA zone fuel requirements.

Huge Coke Drums Shipped from Spain to Louisiana

Intermarine, LLC, transporter of project, breakbulk and heavylift cargo, said it has transported four coke drums on the MV Ocean Freedom from Gijon, Spain, to New Orleans, La. The cargo was transported for forwarder Agility Project Logistics with end clients Phillips 66 and Wood Group Mustang. The cargo units measure 34.4 x 8 x 8.2 meters and weigh 333 metric tons each. The MV Ocean Freedom (14,360 DWT - 153.8 M LOA – 2 x 400 MT cranes) was selected due to the vessel’s ability to move items via single crane lift and/or tandem lift.

Ship Retrofit to Cut Fuel Use by 25%

Carbon War Room (CWR) announced today that a collaboration between Hammonia Reederei, a Hamburg-based shipowner, and New Orleans-based charterer Intermarine, has enabled the retrofit of three sister vessels with multiple efficiency technologies. Under expected operating conditions, each vessel is anticipated to see 25 percent fuel savings, to be shared between Hammonia and Intermarine. José María Figueres, Chairman of the Board, Carbon War Room commented “This deal proves the profitability of shipowners and charterers collaborating on multi-technology retrofits. CWR awarded Hammonia a $120,000 grant to retrofit the vessels Industrial Ruby, Industrial Royal, and Industrial Revolution.

MacGregor Strengthens its Heavy-lift Market Share

MacGregor, part of Cargotec, has strengthened its position in the heavy-lift market by confirming an important new contract to deliver twelve 450-tonne capacity heavy-lift cranes for six Ecolift F900 vessels. The 13,300 dwt vessels are being built by two Chinese shipyards, Hudong and Huangpu Wenchong, for long-term charter to US operator Intermarine. Options remain for a further four vessels. The order was booked into fourth quarter 2015 order intake. "This is a significant contract for MacGregor, representing important next steps into the heavy-lift market," says Mattias Sundström, Sales and Marketing Director for General Cargo Ships at MacGregor. "MacGregor is also delivering deck machinery from our Hatlapa range, as well as the Porsgrunn steering gear for these vessels," he continues.

Cargo Ship Collides with Barge in Corpus Christi Harbor

An allision between a 480-foot cargo ship and barge occurred Thursday night in the Corpus Christi Inner Harbor. The U.S. Coast Guard and state and local partners are responding. The Coast Guard launched a Station Port Aransas 45-foot response boat and crew after receiving a call reporting the allision between the U.S.-flagged bulk carrier Ocean Freedom owned by Intermarine and a moored barge owned by Kirby Inland Marine at 10:30 p.m. Thursday. A man from the scene went to Christus Spohn Hospital Corpus Christi-Shoreline due to possible knee injury, the Coast guard said.

Intermarine Promotes Corporate Finance Director

Project, breakbulk and heavylift cargo transporter Intermarine, LLC reports it has promoted Chad Call to Director of Corporate Finance. Call will continue to report to Michael Dumas, Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. In this new role, Call will be responsible for managing the company’s banking relationships, corporate financial analysis, forecasting and financial reporting. Call joined Intermarine in 2010, where he previously served as Intermarine’s Manager of Financial Planning and Analysis.

Intermarine Acquires Heavy Lift Ship

Project, breakbulk and heavy lift cargo transporter Intermarine, LLC added a heavy lift ship, Industrial Grace, to its fleet. Industrial Grace is a P2 type vessel  - 19,450 dwt super heavylifter with two 700-ton cranes for a combined 1,400 ton lifting capacity. The ship recently underwent its five-year dry-docking in Bremen, Germany, and has joined the fleet as of August 10. Industrial Grace is the fourth G-Class ship to enter Intermarine’s “Fleet of the Future” in 2015, following the Globe, Grand and Glory. The shipper’s “Fleet of the Future” also includes a newbuild program for the construction and delivery of more than 20 ships from 2016 to 2018.

Intermarine Opens Office in Ecuador

Intermarine, LLC, a transporter of project, breakbulk and heavylift cargo, announced it has opened an office in Quito, Ecuador. The new office will operate in partnership with agent Tradinter as part of the company’s Americas division to provide pricing, customer and documentation services to regional clients. The office is positioned to service clients on the northern portion of Ecuador, including, but not limited to the provinces of: Pichincha, Esmeraldas, Imbabura, Carchi and Santo Domingo. Intermarine said the location was specifically established to align the service requirements and objectives of the West Coast South America line to those of the customers, resulting in better and quicker assistance, pricing and service.

Intermarine Opens Istanbul Office

Intermarine, LLC, a transporter of project, breakbulk and heavy lift cargo, has established a physical presence in Turkey with the opening of an office in Istanbul. The new branch will operate as part of the company’s Worldwide division, offering identical breakbulk, heavy-lift cargo chartering services to the company’s existing trade lanes. In addition to the Caspian Sea, the location will provide service to the Persian Gulf, Far East, Americas; and West and South Africa.
