VIDEO: Liebherr Debuts Lift Height Extension of STS in Australia

Liebherr Container Cranes completed its first ship to shore lift height increase with their new patented jacking system as part of Liebherr Transform. The operation was conducted under the supervision of Liebherr engineers at Patrick Terminals – Brisbane Autostrad.Patrick Terminals – Brisbane Autostrad located on the eastern coast of Australia is one of the world’s most advanced container terminals. Liebherr have two ship to shore container cranes at the terminal, a new STS currently being commissioned and an STS supplied in 2015.

DP World Berbera Orders 8 RTG Cranes

Liebherr Container Cranes and DP World Berbera have signed a contract for the supply of eight RTGs for DP World’s terminal in Berbera, Somaliland. The cranes are due to be ready for operation before the end of 2020.The high performance, variable speed diesel RTGs are six containers plus a truck lane wide and will stack one over five containers high. The machines are supplied with DGPS autosteering and stack profiling. Like all Liebherr RTGs, the machines incorporate Liebherr’s eight rope reeving no-sway-system.

MGT Orders Liebherr Ship-to-Shore Cranes

Liebherr Container Cranes, manufacturer in the Republic of Ireland, and Montreal Gateway Terminals Partnership (MGT) have signed a contract for the supply of four ship to shore (STS) container cranes to the Cast Container Terminal in Montreal, Canada.The cranes will be delivered in 2021, said a press note from the manufacturers of ship to shore cranes, rail mounted gantry cranes and rubber tyre gantry cranes.The cranes will easily handle the largest container vessels currently visiting the Port of Montreal and are future proofed to handle even larger vessels of up to 21 container rows across the deck. Jones Act LNG-powered ConRo Ship Launched

Crowley Maritime Corp.’s newest combination container/Roll on-Roll off (ConRo) ship has been launched at the VT Halter Marine shipyard in Pascagoula, Miss. for the Crowley’s service between Jacksonville, Fla., and San Juan, Puerto Rico. Named El Coquí after a beloved frog native to Puerto Rico, the ConRo is one of the world’s first to be powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG). The ship will now proceed through the final topside construction and testing phase before beginning service in the U.S. Jones Act trade during the second half of 2017.

Liebherr Container Cranes announced it will deliver four ship to shore container cranes to Fenix Container Terminal, Port of Bronka, St. Petersburg, Russia. The cranes were designed in Liebherr Container Cranes, Ireland and manufactured in the state of the art facility in Ireland.The completed cranes were then assembled in the Liebherr Rostock plant and barged through the Baltic Sea to St. Petersburg. The cranes are due to enter operation at the purpose built container terminal on the Baltic sea in the coming weeks.

Liebherr to Supply Four Cranes to Australia

Liebherr Container Cranes has recently completed the testing of articulated boom cranes in its Killarney facility in Ireland. The complete articulated boom and main beam of one of the cranes for Port Botany was assembled in Liebherr Container Cranes facility on a special test bed, where it was tested. This articulated boom design allows these large cranes to operate within the height restrictions prevailing at Port Botany, due to its close proximity to Sydney airport, Liebherr said.

Liebherr Takes Chilean Order for 3 STS Cranes

Terminal Pacífico Sur Valparaíso in Chile recently purchased three Ship-to-Shore container cranes (STS) from Irish based Liebherr Container Cranes Ltd. These cranes have an outreach of 62 m and a safe working load of 65 t under twin lift spreader. These are the largest container cranes that Liebherr has ever manufactured for the west coast of South America. The cranes allow the terminal to meet shipping companies’ newest requirements, operating on large container vessels such as the CMA CGM Marco Polo container ships.

Flinders Adelaide Orders Liebherr Container Cranes

Liebherr Container Cranes has recently signed a contract for the supply of two ship to shore container cranes to Flinders Adelaide Container Terminal in South Australia. The container cranes were purchased as part of a 30-year strategic plan to boost service levels at the Port Adelaide Terminal. The cranes have an operational outreach of 50m and a safe working load of 65 metric tons under twin lift spreader and 80 metric tons under hook beam. The lift height over rail is 38 m, the span is 25.3 m and the back reach is 20 m.

Liebherr Container Cranes Commission Seven in Rotterdam Terminal

Ireland’s Liebherr Container Cranes say they have recently commissioned seven straddle carriers at ECT Delta Terminal in Rotterdam. The straddle carriers operate in the landside interface zone, shuttling between the automatic stacking cranes and trucks. In addition the straddles will handle multi trailers for intra terminal transfer for onward transport by train or barge. The Liebherr straddle carriers are linked to a remote positional tracking system, providing real-time accurate information on the position and handling rates of containers within the terminal.

Liebherr Cranes Ordered in South Africa

Liebherr Africa announced the awarding of a contract for the supply of four STS and 18 RTG cranes to Transnet Port Terminals. The order will be fulfilled with the assistance of Liebherr Container Cranes in Ireland. In the last two years, Liebherr delivered nine mobile harbor cranes to Transnet, which brought their fleet to 13. In addition Liebherr Container Cranes Ltd. delivered two ship to shore container cranes to Ngqura Container Terminal in 2012. The ship to shore cranes in this order will bring the total number of Liebherr ship to shore cranes operated by Transnet Port Terminals to 31.

Liebherr Delivers Seven Straddle Carriers in Rotterdam

Liebherr Container Cranes has secured an order for the delivery of seven (7) straddle carriers to ECT Delta Terminal in Rotterdam. ECT has placed the order for the Liebherr SC340S. These machines will stack 1 over 2 high and are supplied with a 40 t Stinis single lift spreader. The straddle carriers will mainly operate in the landside interface zone, shuttling between the automatic stacking cranes and trucks. In addition the straddles will handle multi trailers for intra terminal transfer for onward transport by train or barge.

A recent order from the Port of Lyttleton is the latest in a series of contracts that has seen Liebherr Container Cranes expand on an already significant presence in New Zealand’s North and South Islands, the company said. The Port of Lyttleton’s most recent order for a super post panamax ship to shore crane and four straddle carriers, will see the number of Liebherr straddle carriers in the Port of Lyttelton grow to eight and brings the total number of ship to shore cranes at the port to three.

Liebherr Container Cranes Ltd. install & commission two Rail Mounted Gantry Cranes (RMG) for Freightliner, Southampton Maritime Rail Terminal. Both Liebherr cranes were launched by Freightliner Ltd at a ceremony in Freightliner’s Southampton Marine Terminal. The cranes have been named Freightliner Fortis 15-10-2012 and Freightliner Agilitas 15-10-2012. The cranes have been ordered by Maher Terminals LLC for their strategically located Port of New York / New Jersey container terminal. The cranes on order for Maher Container Terminal have a waterside outreach of 61m a span of 30.48m and a landside backreach of 22.9 m. More Liebherr RTGs for Cerescorp

Liebherr Container Cranes Ltd. signed a contract for the supply of four heavy-duty twinlift Rubber Tyre Gantry Cranes to Cerescorp’s Halifax Terminal in Canada. Two similar LIEBHERR units were delivered to the terminal in 2002. The RTG’s are of 8 wheel configuration, stack one over five containers high and span six containers plus a truck lane. S.W.L is 50 Tonnes under twinlift telescopic spreader. Hoist speed is 23/50m/min and trolley speed is 70m/min. Crane travel speed is 70/130m/min. Crane drives are Liebherr AC, which has been specifically developed for gantry cranes and RTG’s using the Liebherr modular concept. The Liebherr Visuscan crane management system is also included.
