DOF Subsea Nets Contract Extension in Africa

Oslo-listed offshore vessel operator DOF Subsea has secured a 6-month extension to a contract in Africa.The company said that the project, with an unnamed client and at an undisclosed location, would continue using the Skandi Seven throughout the extended duration.The vessel is used for integrated FSV services, project management, engineering, procurement, and logistical services within deep-water construction and maintenance of existing subsea infrastructure.While DOF was tight-lipped on further details, MarineTraffic.com AIS data on Skandi Seven show the vessel has recently left Luanda, Angola, en route to "EAST HUB, BLOCK 15."  East Hub development is an area offshore Angola, operated by Eni.

APM Terminals Bahrain Opens New Online Platform

APM Terminals Bahrain has launched the 'Lift' portal which allows customers to track and trace their goods, check the status of shipments and vessels and schedule deliveries - 24 hours per day, seven days a week.Lift works to optimize operations by allowing customers real-time visibility into the status of the cargo in a container facility, enabling them to manage all aspects of the terminal process and improving their business at the same time. The new system is seen as being a major step in the digitization of logistical services.Using a user-friendly interface, Lift connects users to the terminal and allows them to access up-to-date data from any device.

Dubai Marine Transit Ferry 7 Million Riders in 1H 2018

Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) revealed that the total ridership of marine transit modes in Dubai has clocked 7,182,435 riders during the first half of this year. Abras (boat) accounted for the biggest number of commuters ferrying as much as 6,867,348 riders. “Serving 7,182,435 riders in six months by marine transit means is indicative of the public uptake of marine transit modes, which offer users enjoyable and convenient rides,” said Ahmed Bahrozyan, CEO of RTA’s Public Transport Agency. “Abras, be it traditional, electrical or air-conditioned, have accounted for the biggest share of ridership by ferrying as much as 6,867,348 riders in the first six months of this year.

GranInvestimentos and Royal IHC Join Forces

Brazilian company GranInvestimentos and Dutch company Royal IHC are joining forces to deliver integrated life cycle solutions to customers in the oil and gas sector. Through this partnership, both companies are set to increase their operational and service activities, and expand their presence in Latin America. The association came into effect when IHC acquired a 50 percent share of GranEnergia – a subsidiary of GranInvestimentos that is active in the oil and gas market. The new partnership will be named GranIHC Services. It will provide integrated services to customers in the oil and gas industry in the fields of offshore maintenance and repair, logistical services and infrastructure facilities.

KOTC, GAC Fujairah in Husbandry Contract

GAC Fujairah has been awarded a husbandry contract by the Kuwait Oil Tanker Company (KOTC) to provide ship supply services, spare parts handling and a range of other logistical services to its vessels arriving in Fujairah, Khor Fakkan and Singapore anchorage. As part of global shipping, logistics and marine services provider GAC Group, GAC Fujairah worked in close cooperation with the Middle East Regional Office in Dubai and GAC Singapore to secure the deal. Under the contract, the GAC team is set to handle approximately 450 jobs a year, a figure which is likely to grow as the KOTC fleet expands. This is the third time GAC Fujairah is appointed by KOTC to provide husbandry services to its vessels.

General Dynamics Wins US Navy Training Contract

U.S. Navy to update curriculum and training-related programs for surface force operations and combat systems globally. General Dynamics Information Technology, a business unit of General Dynamics, was awarded the Training Services for the Center for Surface Combat Systems (CSCS) contract by the Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division. The single-award contract has a potential value of approximately $244 million for a one-year base period with four option years. General Dynamics will provide training and training-related program support services, from curriculum development to advanced warfare training across the CSCS domain, which includes their 15 learning sites and detachments and International Programs.

Maersk Line to acquire Hamburg Süd

Maersk Line and the Oetker Group have reached an agreement for Maersk Line to acquire Hamburg Süd, the German container shipping line. The acquisition is subject to final agreement and regulatory approvals. Hamburg Süd is the world's seventh largest container shipping line and a leader in the North - South trades. The company operates 130 container vessels with a container capacity of 625,000 TEU (twenty-foot equivalent). It has 5,960 employees in more than 250 offices across the world and market its services through the Hamburg Süd, CCNI (based in Chile) and Aliança (based in Brazil) brands. In 2015, Hamburg Süd had a turnover of USD 6,726 million of which USD 6,261 million stems from its container line activities. "Today is a new milestone in Maersk Line's history.

Maersk Line Jordan Connects Aqaba to South India

Wärtsilä Supports Finland's Rio Olympics Sailing Team

Wärtsilä say they have signed a 3-year logistic agreement with the Finnish Sailing and Boating Federation with Wärtsilä’s new site in Niteroi, Rio de Janeiro, offering a perfect location and valued logistical services to the Finnish top sailors. The Finnish sailors’ training program for the 2016 summer Olympics includes a number of training camps and the test events on the future Olympic sailing courses. Due to intercontinental distances the sailors are forced to leave their equipment for long-term storage between their visits in Rio waters.

Raytheon Wins Contract with Royal Navy

Raytheon Systems Limited, Harlow together with Raytheon Anschütz has been awarded the contract for the In-Service Support (ISS) of the Integrated Bridge and Navigation Systems for the Royal Navy’s new Type 45 Daring class destroyers . Raytheon Anschütz will be responsible for total maintenance and repair of these systems on board the vessels until at least 2016. The Type 45 destroyers are being built by the British company BVT Surface Fleet, who also selected Raytheon for In-Service Support. The contract guarantees the Royal Navy a maximum uptime of their new ships at predictable operation costs, depending on performance-based payments and a volume control for ship usage.

Stolt-Nielsen Enters Asian Bitumen Tanker Market

Stolt-Nielsen S.A. (SNSA) (Oslo Børs: SNI), announced today that it has signed an agreement with Xinshun Shipyard in China for the purchase of up to six 5,900 deadweight ton (dwt) bitumen tanker newbuildings due for delivery from February 2010. Sperry Marine to Supply New Radars for Odfjell Tankers

Northrop Grumman Corporation signed a contract with Norwegian shipowner Odfjell ASA to install new radars and other navigation systems on its fleet of parcel tankers. The equipment will be supplied and installed by Northrop Grumman’s Sperry Marine business unit through its worldwide network of service locations. Initial orders under the contract have been placed for 20 Sperry Marine VisionMaster FT radars to be fitted on ten Odfjell ships. The contract also provides options for additional radar purchases for other ships in the fleet, as well as orders for retrofit of simplified voyage data recorders and electronic chart display and information systems on existing ships.
