ONE Announces New Transpacific Service from February 2025

Ocean Network Express (ONE) has announced its Transpacific service starting from February 2025 which will deploy 16 core weekly services.“The emphasis will be on quality end-to-end direct services with high schedule reliability.

Ocean Network Express (ONE) has launched a new route connecting Asia and the US West Coast: Asia Pacific 1 (AP1) as a result of sustained growth of US import volumes from Asia to the US.The AP1 service introduces direct routes from Taipei and Shekou to the U.S. West Coast. The European Parliament has officially adopted the Berendsen report, an own-initiative report on “building a comprehensive European Port Strategy” (585 in favor, 21 against, 26 abstentions).The European Sea Ports Organisation (ESPO) welcomed the support for the strategic and vital role that Europe’s ports play for European society and economy. ESPO supports the Parliament’s plea to further harmonize the measures to strengthen the resilience and protection of Europe’s critical infrastructure, including ports.

OOCL Adds Third 24,188 TEU Containership

Hong Kong-based Orient Overseas Container Line Ltd. (OOCL) announced it has taken delivery of another 24,188 TEU mega ship.The OOCL Turkiye, recently named during a ceremony at Nantong COSCO KHI Ship Engineering Co., Ltd. (NACKS) shipyard, is the third 24,188TEU vessel to be received by OOCL in a series of12.Being a part of OOCL’s strategic plan for further growth in Asia -Europe trade, OOCL Turkiye will join her sister vessels OOCL Spain and OOCL Piraeus in serving OOCL’s Asia-Europe LL3 service loop.

OOCL Takes Delivery of a 24,188 TEU Ultra-large Containership

Hong Kong-based shipping line OOCL announced it has taken delivery of another ultra-large containership The 24,188 TEU vessel OOCL Piraeus is the first in the series of six container vessels to be delivered by Dalian Cosco KHI Ship Engineering Co., Ltd. (DACKS).OOCL placed an order for a total of twelve 24,188 TEU container vessels in 2020. A Greener and More Ambitious EU Maritime ETS Emerges

On January 14, 2022 the European Parliament’s Rapporteur, MEP Peter Liese, published his draft report on a proposal to revise the Emissions Trading System (ETS) Directive¹ which forms part of the ‘Fit for 55’ package of climate and energy reforms published on July 14, 2021. The draft report includes a number of ambitious amendments to emissions trading for the maritime sector – the Maritime ETS – which, if agreed, will put more pressure on the maritime industry to switch to cleaner fuels sooner than originally planned.

NUWC Joins 401 Tech Bridge Project

Neptune Installs Scrubbers in Two Vessels

EU Hails Maritime Single Window Environment

The European Parliament’s Committee on Transport and Tourism has recently published the draft report on the Commission’s proposal for a Regulation establishing a European Maritime Single Window environment.The rapporteur, Member of the European Parliament (MEP) Deirdre Clune of European People's Party (EPP)-Ireland rightly focuses in her draft report on the harmonisation of data elements and data sets, advocates the cooperation between customs and maritime authorities at both national and Union level and recognises that, even with a fully harmonised data set, competent authorities might for some reasons require additional data.The draft report moreover states that Member states should allow the use of port community systems…

(“ONE”) is has announced that ONE Columbia, with a carrying capacity of 14,000 TEU, has been successfully delivered at Kure Shipyard of Japan Marine United Corporation. The sublet owner is Nippon Yusen Kaisha. Wan Hai Lines Enhances Japan Services

Shippers Welcome European Maritime Single Window

The European Community Shipowners’ Associations (ECSA)  and the World Shipping Council (WSC) welcome the adoption of a General Approach on the proposal for a European Maritime Single Window environment by Transport Ministers.European co-legislators have been working intensively to reduce the administrative burden shipping faces. EU Backs European Maritime Single Window

The European Sea Ports Organisation (ESPO) welcomes the Commission’s proposal for a Regulation establishing a European Maritime Single Window environment, stated a ESPO Secretariat.For European ports though, reducing the administrative burden in maritime transport and facilitating trade is a top priority. ESPO wants more ambition on the harmonisation of data definitions and data sets, while maintaining the existing reporting systems, it said in a press release.This would further reduce the administrative burden and would facilitate trade. One Minato Shines Through Port of Yantian

Ocean Network Express East Asia (ONE EA) has celebrated the maiden voyage of the second of a series of seven 14,000 TEU-class magenta containership of the company, ONE MINATO at Yantian International Container Terminals Limited (YICT).Sailed under the flag of Japan,  One Minato is a newly built 14,000 TEU-class containership which was delivered from Imabari Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. in Hiroshima, Japan on 24 July 2018.At 365.94 metres length and 51.2 metres width, the vessel deployed on THE Alliance’s Asia to North America East Coast trade (EC4 service), made successful calls at ports of Kaohsiung and Hong Kong before calling at Yantian.She will continue her voyage to Cai Mep, Singapore via the Suez Canal to New York, Norfolk, Savannah and Charleston on the United States East Coast.
