A new Bunker Trading Company was established in Singapore in early April. The company is called United Bunkering & Trading (Asia) Pte. Ltd., and is backed by a major European investor. In the year 2000/2001, the total turnover reached $600 million. United Bunkering & Trading (Asia) Pte. Ltd., said it can handle supplies of bunker oil to ships throughout the world and also supply other naturally related products and services, like lubricants, crew change and agency service. Singapore Establishes New Bunker Standards
Singapore’s bunkering industry will receive a boost with the implementation of a new national standard. As of June 1, 2007, all bunker suppliers in Singapore are required to be certified in accordance with the new Singapore Standard on Quality Management for Bunker Supply Chain (SS 524:2006), in order to renew their bunkering licenses. This was announced by Lim Hwee Hua, Minister of State for Finance and Transport at the opening of the 14th Singapore International Bunkering Conference (SIBCON 2006).
New Bunker Trader at Dynamic Oil
Dynamic Oil Trading, the global trading company for marine fuels and lubricants, has announced the appointment of Jacky Yen as a new bunker trader for its Singapore bunker trading team. Educated at University College Dublin, Jacky Yen brings considerable experience of working with suppliers and buyers in the Singapore bunker market. Prior to joining Dynamic Oil Trading he worked at another marine fuel company in the Lion City for two years, where his responsibilities included bunker trading, operational liaison for fuel deliveries and acting as the point of contact with the Singapore MPA.
A/S Dan-Bunkering Appoints Mikkelsen as Trader
New Bunker Trader with A/S Dan-Bunkering Ltd., Middelfart. Commencing from 1 July 2012, Søren Mikkelsen, 26, has been employed as Bunker Trader in A/S Dan-Bunkering Ltd.'s head office in Middelfart, Denmark. Søren comes from a position with Shipping.dk Lillebælt A/S where he has been working since 2010, thus he already has a good knowledge of shipping.

Port of Houston- Fuel surcharge Increase
Effective March 17, 2005 local barge companies in the port of Houston will increase their fuel surcharge to 20% of all bunker delivery freight charges. Harbor fees, tariffs, demurrage and other fees, applicable to the bunker delivery, will not be subject to this fuel surcharge. This pass through cost will apply to any new bunker orders delivered by Chemoil March 17th or later.
Mass Flow Metering System for MFO delivery in Singapore
As the world's leading bunkering port Singapore is to provide quality bunkering services to vessels lifting bunkers in the port. The use of the Mass Flow Metering (MFM) system for bunkering in the Port of Singapore will not only enhance transparency in the bunkering process, but also improve operational efficiency and increase the productivity of the bunker industry. As announced on 8 April 2014, MPA [Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore] will be mandating the use of an MPA-approved MFM system for Marine Fuel Oil (MFO) delivery in the Port of Singapore from 1 January 2017. All existing bunker tankers operating in port will be required to be fitted with an MPA-approved MFM for MFO delivery by 31 December 2016.
Vitol's New Bunkering Partnership in Nigerian Waters
International oil trader Vitol Group (Vitol) has started a new bunkering operation in Nigerian waters with shipping and logistics firm PPP FM Bunkers (PPPFM), supported by the Secure Anchorage Area (SAA) West Africa. Nigeria's PPPFM is fully licensed by that country's Department of Petroleum Resources, according to Vitol. "Fully licensed by the Department of Petroleum Resources, PPPFM entered into an agreement with Vitol to be able to guarantee clients the best quality bunker fuels in the West African region," explained Vitol in the announcement.
Nordics First Bunkering Station for LNG
Skangas announced that the first ever bunkering station for liquefied natural gas (LNG) in the Nordics is open and operating successfully. The new bunkering station fuels Fjord Line’s cruise ferries, which are the first - and largest - in the world to use "single fueled LNG engines," meaning that they are powered exclusively by LNG. Loading arm is a well-known method of transferring cargo for large oil and LNG terminals. According to Skangas, this is the first loading arm ever developed purely for bunkering. LNG ships have normally been bunkered via hose connections from a truck or a tank.
TOTAL Increases Le Havre Options with New Barge
Total Marine Fuels has increased its bunkering capacity at the port of Le Havre and at the Port 2000 container facilities with the delivery of its new bunkering barge, FS Sara. At the same time, TMF is also making low-sulphur fuel oil available at the French port for the first time. The double-hulled seagoing FS Sara has capacity for 7,500 MT of fuel oil and 500 MT of MGO, and is to start work immediately. TMF products now available at Le Havre include RMK700 (500cSt), IFO 380 / 180, LSFO 380 / 180 and MGO DMA 0.1 percent.

BV & Ship-to-Ship LNG Bunkering
Bureau Veritas is supporting the adoption of clean fuel LNG through the classification of both vessels in the world’s first ship-to-ship LNG bunkering operation between two independent ocean-going vessels. On September 3 2016, Terntank Rederi’s M/T Ternsund bunkered LNG from Coral Energy, a Dutch small scale LNG vessel owned by Antony Veder and chartered by Skangas. The operation was carried out at the entrance to the port of Gothenburg. The 15,000 dwt Ternsund is the world’s first LNG-fuelled newbuilding oil/chemical tanker.
Skangas Names LNG Bunker Supply Ship Coralius
Coralius, the first European built LNG bunker and distribution vessel was named Monday, May 22, by Johanna Lamminen, Chair of the Board of Skangas and Chief Executive Officer of Gasum. The 5,800 cbm vessel was commissioned by owners Anthony Veder and Sirius Shipping in 2015 and was built by Royal Bodewes. This new vessel will offer LNG bunkering services for Skangas, a subsidiary of Gasum, mainly operating in the North Sea, the Skagerak area and the Baltic Sea. With this new bunker feeder, LNG as a marine fuel will become more accessible for the Scandinavian region.
BIMCO and IBIA Electronic Bunkering Guide
BIMCO, in partnership with the International Bunker Industry Association (IBIA), has launched a new bunkering guide designed primarily for use by ships’ crew. BIMCO Asia Liaison Officer Thomas Timlen, and IBIA Chief Executive Ian Adams released the BIMCO and IBIA Bunkering Guide on October 27 to delegates in Singapore attending the 16th Singapore International Bunkering Conference. New Barge Speeds Le Havre Bunker Options
TOTAL Marine Fuels has increased its bunkering capacity at the port of Le Havre and at the Port 2000 container facilities with the delivery of its new bunkering barge, Cimil. The 4,500 tonne capacity bunker tanker is highly manoeuvrable and can deliver blends and different grades at 500 tph. Christophe Girardot, General Manager TOTAL Marine Fuels, says, "Cimil is a modern and flexible barge which will complement the bunker delivery capacity we have in Le Havre with our current barge ST Sara. It will improve service to our contract clients, mostly liner and cruise operators, while allowing us to offer a replacement to the ntifer pipeline service for tankers, which is out of service this year.

Improved bunkering facilities in the Caribbean region are planned as a new agreement is announced between Petrotrin and BP Marine, which will combine to provide improved fuel supply services along the Key West coast ports of Trinidad. Petrotrin, the national oil Company of Trinidad and Tobago have an established marine bunkering infrastructure, supplying quality fuels from its refinery at Point-a-Pierre. Beginning November 1, BP Marine and Petrotrin will from combine their individual strengths in bunkering, customer service, marketing and marine products to creating a new alliance and a significantly higher level of service.
Jensen Develops 2 New LNG Bunker Barge Concepts
Jensen Maritime Consultants, Inc., a naval architecture and marine engineering firm owned by Crowley Maritime Corp., has developed two new liquefied natural gas (LNG) bunker barge concepts. The two new fully customizable concepts aim to offering customers maximum flexibility and improved safety features, the designer said. The first concept involves outfitting an existing barge with an above-deck LNG tank. The concept can be further modified to accommodate more than one type of product, if a customer has a need for multiple liquid transfers.

Rosneft Marine Deploys New Bunker Tanker
Rosneft Marine UK Ltd., a subsidiary of Russian state-owned oil company OJSC Rosneft, has introduced a new bunker delivery tanker to service the Port of Murmansk in Russia. The Russian-flagged RN Magellan is a 4622 deadweight tonne (dwt) bunker tanker built in 2007. The modern vessel is part of Rosneft Marine's strategy to replace aging bunker tankers from the Soviet era. The company is also examining the possibility of relocating the tanker to St. Petersburg due to its high-end delivery capabilities and environmentally friendly design.
Buffalo Marine Service, Inc. Christens San Joaquin
Buffalo Marine Service, Inc., a full-service marine fuel bunkering company serving the Gulf Coast, recently christened the newest of its nine-boat fleet, at its offices on the original Buffalo Bayou in the Port of Houston, said Patrick Suddert, president of Buffalo Marine. San Joaquin, which cost $1.35 million, joins sister vessels San Leandro and San Rafael as part of the youngest and newest bunker fleet in the nation. The fleet also includes six other similar towboats and 17 tank barges. The fleet refuels ships in the ports of Houston, Galveston, Texas City, Freeport, Port Arthur, Beamont, Orange, Lake Charles and Corpus Christi. “We are very excited to put our new tug into service,” Studdert said.
Port of Rotterdam: 2017 in Review
Over the past year, 29,646 seagoing vessels entered the port of Rotterdam, up more than 600 from 2016's 29,022. The number of incidents in the port fell from 159 to 129, and included one ‘serious accident’ involving an inland vessel that went adrift after hitting a groyne with its rudder.
