Pemamek Develops New Semi-narrow Groove Welding Solution

Pemamek LLC, a North American subsidiary of Finland-based Pemamek Ltd., has developed an automated semi-narrow groove welding solution with proven success in welding exceptionally thick plates ranging in size from 2 inches to 6.5 inches. Called Semi-Narrow Gap Welding, this SAW process uses significantly less consumables over the length of the operation resulting in a strong bond in less time and with fewer costs.Based on submerged arc welding (SAW), the LSO process employs a welding head equipped with 5/32-inch wires.

Navantia Taps Pemamek for Shipbuilding Production Lines

Navantia placed an order for the automated PEMA Panel Lines, Profile Processing Lines and Sub-Block Production Lines, designed to ensure that  Navantia Shipyards will have the latest laser-hybrid-based welding and robotic technology fully integrated to create the Shipyard 4.0 working environment. The agreement between Navantia and Pemamek -- which entails several phased deliveries during the next two years -- includes an advanced automated and robotized PEMA Panel line, PEMA Profile Processing Line, and PEMA Sub-Block Production Line for Navantia’syards in Spain.

Chouest's LaShip Shipyard Adds New Welding Robot

MV Werften Rolls-out New Production Facility

Hong Kong–German shipbuilding company MV Werften put into operation the laser-hybrid welding line in its new hall 11 for producing panels measuring up to 25 x 16 meters for the Global Class cruise ships.Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania’s Economics Minister Harry Glawe, representatives of Genting Hong Kong, MV Werften , the automation provider Pemamek as well as other project partners were present in the new Hall 11 when the plant produced its first weld seam.“The new plant enables us to make a significant increase in the capacity of our steel prefabrication for the Global cruise ships in Rostock and take a further, important step towards Industry 4.0.

Meyer Turku Boosts Shipyard Investment

Meyer Turku shipyard said it will more than double its investments from €75 million ($89.6 million) to €185 million ($221 million) as it aims to boost steel production to fulfill its record order book stretching into 2024. MV WERFTEN Pumps €75 Mln into Rostock Yard

STX France Shipyard Adds More Automated Welding

A good order book and need for higher capacity in the dock were the basis for STX France to purchase more welding automation for its shipyard’s panel welding. STX France decided to turn to Pemamek after a competitive offering round, and purchased PEMA Integrated One-sided Laser-Hybrid Welding and Milling Station with conveyor solution for welding deck plates together. Senesco Invests in New Welding System

Senesco Marine Shipyard on the U.S. northeast coast has invested in a more productive and efficient welding system, concluding a deal with Pemamek to deliver a PEMA Welding Portal for the welding of double bottoms and subassemblies. Senesco Marine, a Reinauer Transportation Company, is a shipyard for new construction and vessel repair in the Northeast, consisting of 26 acres of Narragansett Bay waterfront property. To further boost its fabrication capability, Senesco trusted in PEMA’s welding automation technology and made a deal of a twin robot welding gantry.

Fincantieri Awarded Pemamek Welding Automation Contract

Fincantieri shipyard manufactures ships with PEMA Welding Automation.

Fincantieri and its Monfalcone Shipyard decided to continue with a Pemamek welding automation technology in shipyard’s production lines. Fincantieri ordered a unique profile processing line and one side welding station with laser-hybrid process and integrated milling. The exact amount of the contract is not revealed by the parties, but it is in the order of several million euros. Previously Pemamek has supplied patented Vision Robot Stations for welding panels to Fincantieri.

Seaspan’s Selects PEMA Equipment for NSPS Project

The National Shipbuilding Procurement Strategy (NSPS) is an initiative of the Canadian Government to build new ships for the Royal Canadian Navy and Canadian Coast Guard. Seaspan’s Vancouver Shipyards won the right to bid on the non-combat vessels under this strategy, and as such is proceeding with a $200 million Shipyard Modernization Program to support execution. Pemamek Wins Contract

Pemamek Oy Ltd was recently awarded a contract of Aker Philadelphia Shipyard, construction and delivery of a micro panel line. Commissioning in early 2013, the new modern micro panel line replaces the existing one. This new line will increase the shipyard’s productivity and therefore improve Aker Philadelphia Shipyards positioning at the market. Additionally, Pemamek Ltd contracted a yearly maintenance contract for the equipment and software for fully support in periodical maintenance and so enabling continuous production.
