Navios Selects Preferred Scrubber Supplier
Navios ShipManagement Inc., a member of Navios Group, has issued a letter of intent endorsing DuPont Clean Technologies as the preferred supplier of exhaust gas cleaning systems (EGCS) for its vessels. The letter of intent also confirms that Navios and DuPont Clean Technologies will carry out a joint feasibility study and techno-economic analysis of marine scrubbing units for retrofitting or new build installation on a variety of vessels, from bulk carriers to containers and tankers. Optimarin secured a contract with the potential to be the ballast water treatment (BWT) specialist’s biggest ever. The Norwegian business announced that it has signed a fleet agreement with UK shipowner and management company Carisbrooke for its market leading Optimarin Ballast System (OBS). NavCom and On Board ICT specialist Radio Holland informs it has booked multiple orders in a challenging newbuild market. The company was awarded contracts to deliver and install the complete NavCom and VSAT packages for four newbuild vessels: two of the Meriaura Group and two of Eureka, part of SMT Shipping, all built at Royal Bodewes in Hoogezand, The Netherlands. “We have completed many successful projects with Radio Holland and are happy to work with them on these four new vessels,” said Johan Schouwenaar from Royal Bodewes.

Subsea 7 Wins North Sea Decommissioning Work
Subsea 7 will provide decommissioning services for the second phase of Centrica’s Rose and Stamford gas field decommissioning programs, located in the southern North Sea. The project is the latest call-off contract under a partnership frame agreement signed in 2005. Subsea 7 has partnership frame agreements with several independent operators, to provide services on a long-term preferred supplier basis. This collaborative approach is helping to drive down costs and promote early engagement on a wide range of projects. Having completed phase one in 2015, phase two will focus on the safe removal and recovery of a greater number of subsea pipeline components, and the responsible management of waste disposal.

DBR Delivers 42 Gensets to Damen
DBR has delivered the last units of an order totaling 42 marine generator sets for Damen Shipyards Gorinchem. The generator sets will be installed on 14 ASD tugs that Damen is building at its Galaţi yard in Romania for a project in the Middle East. “Our engineers are currently executing commissioning and start-up works in Romania,” said DBR Managing Director Herwin Roodenburg. DBR performed the design and engineering work for the whole contract. “The generator sets are executed with double bearing generators and are started by compressed air,” Roodenburg explained.
Kalmar Supplies 19 Straddle Carriers to TPT, Durban
Kalmar, part of Cargotec, has gained a breakthrough order to supply ten straddle carriers to Transnet Port Terminals (TPT) Durban Pier 2, a dedicated straddle carrier operation in South Africa currently handling a throughput of 2.4 million TEU. TPT is a division of the government-owned Transnet SOC Limited currently pursuing a R300 billion capital investment programme over seven years and now in its third year of execution. The order was booked into Cargotec's first quarter intake 2014 with deliveries scheduled to be completed by October 2014.
