Rem Offshore Places Order for Next-Gen Subsea Construction Vessel

Norway-based offshore vessel owner Rem Offshore and shipbuilder Myklebust Verft have signed a contract for the construction of an Energy Subsea Construction Vessel (ESCV) with a 250-tonne crane.The vessel will be delivered in 2026 and will be the first of its kind that can perform heavy construction work in both offshore wind and subsea with net zero emissions, according to Rem Offshore.The contract also contains an option to build one more vessel, the company confirmed.The vessel will be equipped with dual-fuel methanol engines in combination with battery packs.

Norwegian Government Backs Project to Develop Offshore Charging Solutions

The Norwegian government awarded Maritime CleanTech partner Vard Group and the Ocean Charger project partners 38 million NOK (approx. US$3.9 million) for the development of offshore charging solutions that would support zero-emissions operations at offshore wind farms.The Norwegian support scheme (The Green Platform Initiative) aims to accelerate the growth of green businesses in Norway. VARD Orders Kongsberg PM Thrusters for Rem Offshore's CSOV Duo

Norway's Kongsberg Maritime has won a deal with VARD shipyard to supply a large package of permanent magnet (PM) thrusters for installation on two new offshore wind farm maintenance vessels ordered by REM Offshore. The scope of delivery for the two Construction Service Operations Vessels (CSOV) includes PM azimuth thrusters, together with PM tunnel thrusters and a retractable azimuth thruster. PM thrusters differ from conventional thrusters in that the propeller blades are not driven directly with a motor and shaft.

Rem Offshore's Platform Supply Vessel Hired for Offshore Wind Work

Norwegian offshore vessel operator Rem Offshore has said its platform supply vessel Rem Trader has been awarded a contract in the offshore wind sector.Rem Offshore said in a social media post on Friday that the vessel - delivered in 2012, and formerly known as Brage Trader- had won a campaign contract for 2021 and 2022 with the Dutch offshore services company Van Oord. Olympic Shipping to Get Finance

The struggling Norwegian supply vessel shipping firm Olympic Shipping said a consortium of investors is willing to invest about 500 million Norwegian crowns ($61.79 million) in a refinancing of the company, reports Reuters. Olympic Shipping is one of the shipping companies that are struggling vigorously. Since summer, Olympic Shipping lived on creditors' grace under a so-called "standstill agreement". This means that the company has released to pay installments on their loans, anticipating that one tries to find a financial solution for the company. The investment is contingent on a restructuring of the group, which must be agreed with lenders. The current shareholders will be invited to participate in the share issue on equal terms.
