German shipping company Rhenus-Arkon-Shipinvest has placed orders for the first four environmentally-friendly vessels known as Hanse Eco Short Sea Coasters.The short sea bulkers are expected to be delivered during the second half of 2021, with the construction work scheduled to begin in February 2020.The vessels are based on the latest developments related to environmental protection, digitization and design.The ‘Hanse Eco’ fleet is the result of an initiative launched by Torsten Westphal, one of the founding members of Arkon Shipping.
New Initiative for Zero Emission Shipping
A group of six leading Nordic industry companies has, in line with the UN sustainability goals, joined forces to solve a great societal challenge. AET Adds Four Newly Built Tankers
Singapore-headquartered vessel owner AET Tankers - a subsidiary of Malaysia's MISC Berhad - has named and welcomed four newbuild tankers into its fleet in two separate ceremonies at South Korean shipyards. At Samsung Heavy Industries, Geoje, South Korea on Wednesday, 24 January, AET named two 113,400 dwt Aframax tankers “Eagle Barcelona” and “Eagle Brisbane”. Two 157,512 dwt Suezmax twins, “Eagle San Francisco” and “Eagle San Jose”, were named two days later on Friday, 26 January, at the Hyundai Heavy Industries shipyard in Ulsan, South Korea.

The exhaust gas cleaning system (scrubber) supplied by Deltamarin Floating Construction to Bore Ltd on a turnkey basis, has received confirmation of full compliance with SECA and IMO regulations (approved by Lloyd's register and TRAFI, the Finnish Transport Safety Agency). After the 14-day dry docking, the open loop operation of the scrubber was in immediate use when the ship left the repair yard. In June, Governor Andrew Cuomo announced the launch of an all-electric dredge tender work boat on the Erie Canal in the Utica area of New York. The project, a partnership with the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) and the New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT), utilized an electric motor supplied and installed by Elco Motor Yachts, LLC, of Athens, New York.
