HAV Design Becomes First European Firm to Design SOV for U.S. market

The Norwegian company HAV Group said Monday that its ship-design subsidiary, HAV Design, had signed a contract with Fincantieri Bay Shipbuilding to construct a newbuild service operation vessel (SOV) destined for the Coastal Virginia offshore wind project in the U.S.The ship will be built for CREST, a partnership between the U.S. company Crowley and the Danish company ESVAGT."The contract marks the U.S. breakthrough for HAV Design, which becomes the first European ship designer to develop an SOV for the U.S. market," HAV said.The U.S. plans to install 30 GW of offshore wind by 2030.

Norway's HAV to Design Service Operation Vessel for U.S. Offshore Wind Project

Brazil AHTS Contract Breakthrough for Havyard

Havyard says it is to deliver the ship design and equipment for four anchor handling tug supply (AHTS) vessels that are to be built and operated by the Brazilian shipping company and shipyard group Grupo CBO. The contract has been entered into by Havyard Design & Solutions, which is responsible for the development of the ship design and for integration and coordination of the equipment packages. The contract also includes deliveries from other business areas in Havyard Group, including Havyard IAS (integrated automation and alarm systems), PMS (Power Management System) and navigation and communications equipment from Havyard Power & Systems. The equipment package also contains equipment from other Norwegian and international suppliers.

Havyard to Design PSV for Sinopec

Havyard says it is to deliver a design package for the construction of a Havyard 832 L SE Platform Supply Vessel (PSV) at the Chinese shipyard Fujien Mawei Shipbuilding. This is the third time in a row for Sinopec to select Havyard design for their fleet renewal program. Earlier they have used Havyard design for the construction of a Havyard 843 AHTS, which was delivered in 2012 and a Havyard 832 PSV, which is scheduled to be delivered from Fujien Mawi Shipbuilding in February 2015. The latest PSV is scheduled to be delivered from Fujien Mawei Shipbuildingin March 2016. Havyard explains that it is a relatively new brand, but has become recognized as one of the leaders supplying design and equipment packages for the construction of advanced ships for the offshore oil industry.

Cobham plc has established a new strategic business unit (SBU) Cobham SATCOM: Thrane & Thrane will form its core. Headquartered in Denmark, Cobham SATCOM is led by Thrane & Thrane CEO Walther Thygesen with assistance from a multinational management team, and includes Cobham’s satcom facilities in Cape Town, South Africa, Concord, California and Orlando, Florida.
