Seagoing Menu-Planning Software: Wrist Sees Demand

As shipowners anticipate the Maritime Labour Convention (MLC)  seafarer welfare regulations, Wrist Ship Supply, says it has experienced growing demand for its menu-planning software programme, WristXena.

Aimed at streamlining the purchasing process for consumable ship supplies, optimising vessel economy and improving health at sea, WristXena was launched to the market in September 2012.   More than 35 vessels are now using the programme.

With just four months to go until the Maritime Labour Convention (MLC) 2006 enters into force on August 20, Wrist’s global customer base of shipowners is treating this as a priority and seeking tools such as WristXena to prepare for new compliance.

“As MLC 2006 becomes a reality for the industry, we are seeing greater numbers of our customers taking a proactive approach to compliance as a minimum standard,” says Robert Steen Kledal, managing director, Wrist Ship Supply.

“Transparency and budget control are key priorities for our customers, and in the current market, ensuring optimum efficiency is a challenge. Our WristXena software helps to make this connection and provide an intuitive and interactive procurement process that also helps to facilitate compliance with this new regulation.”

The WristXena software is a menu-planning tool and electronic cookbook that gives ship owners complete inventory control.  This reduces waste and increases transparency, which ensures that they stay within nutritional guidelines. Recipes in this programme also provide cost per meal information, which is reconciled against existing food stock.

This software has recently been updated, to provide easy access to online support and improved manning reports for vessels using the programme. WristXena also enables ordering, stock and menu planning that takes into account regulation around seafarer catering, as stipulated by the MLC 2006.
