CMR Debuts Engine Supervision and Management Software
CMR Group has introduced a new Integrated Alarm Monitoring and Control System (IAMCS) for marine and naval engine applications which it said provides technologically-advanced capabilities for improved marine vessel supervision, safety and management and delivers a cost-effective IAMCS solution that creates long-term operational savings for marine customers.
The new IAMCS systems will be on display at the CMR Group stand at the SMM 2014 tradeshow in Hamburg, September 9-12.
A microprocessor forms the basis of the system to read and record engine output data using CAN open and J1939 protocols while operating with an intuitive supervision system and touchscreen human to machine interface. This provides all the necessary functions for protection and control adherence to Unattended Machinery Space (UMS) marine notations covering IAMCS, Power Management Systems (PMS) and Supervision Systems.
This fully integrated capability offers advanced monitoring and control of critical ship functions such as engines, pumps and valves. The Integrated Alarm and Control System provides visual and audible signals in the event of abnormal running conditions. This ensures fully automatic, semiautomatic and manual remote control of the whole installation including machinery and cargo.
Key benefits include scalability in control and monitoring from hundreds to thousands of channels, a fully modular configuration, touchscreen human to machine interface (HMI) and the provision of a complete solution from engine wiring to wheelhouse displays.
The new IAMCS system complies with full marine classification by societies including Lloyd’s Register, Det Norske Veritas, Nippon Kaiji, Bureau Veritas, Regristo Italiano Navale, Russian Register and American Bureau of Shipping.
These can support the deployment of fully automated vessel management systems (VMS) for ships of all sizes - from small craft such as tugs, workboats and private build pleasure crafts through to medium-sized commercial vessels such as ferries, PSVs, cargo ships and ocean going yachts.
