DP World Q2 TEU Count Soars 10%

Maritime Activity Reports, Inc.

July 25, 2017

State-owned ports operator DP World on Tuesday reported second-quarter gross container volumes up 10.4 percent on a like-for-like basis and 10.7 percent on a reported basis.

DP World handled 17.6 million twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) in the three months to June 30, the company said in a statement.

Volumes in the second quarter were driven by improved trading conditions and market share gain from new shipping alliances, said DP World Chairman Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem.

Half-year gross container volumes rose 7.7 percent on a like-for-like basis and 8.2 percent on a reported basis.

DP World handled 34 million TEUs in the six months to June 30.
