Offshore Solutions Gangway Provides 24 Hour Access for Platform
Offshore Solutions BV (OSBV) has been providing 24/7 personnel access for Pearl 1 Platform – one of two platforms providing offshore gas to Pearl Gas to Liquids (GTL) project in Qatar - since the completion of sea trials in December 2010. Using the 20-metre Offshore Access System (OAS), mounted on the Bourbon Gulf Star vessel, the Qatar Shell operations, project and maintenance personnel have been able to access the platform 24 hours a day.
Surge in Traffic Between Hamburg and Poland
In the first half of 2011, seaborne container traffic between Hamburg and Poland experienced a particular surge by 38 per cent, to 114,000 TEU. In this context, imports and exports from/to Poland are very well balanced at 56,000 TEU and 58,000 TEU, respectively. With a volume of 2.6 million tons of seaborne cargo in the year 2010, Hamburg is one of the most significant North Range ports for Poland.

for everyone. Dry cargo demand growth is running at strong levels due to the twin processes of industrialization and urbanization in emerging markets. Annual average demand growth between 2011 and 2015 is likely to match and may even exceed the annual 5.2% growth witnessed between 2004 and 2008 – the years of the superboom in dry cargo vessel earnings. LCA: Great Lakes Iron Ore Trade Up 9 Percent in August
Iron ore shipments on the Great Lakes totaled 6,551,329 tons in August, a decrease of 7 percent from July, but an increase of 9 percent compared to a year ago. August loadings also were up 24.6 percent compared to the month’s 5-year average. Shipments from U.S. ports totaled 5.8 million tons, an increase of 14.2 percent compared to a year ago. However, loadings at Canadian ports dipped more than 20 percent.
