USCG Assists in Delaware Aircraft Emergency
The Coast Guard assisted a pilot involved in an aircraft emergency in Georgetown, Delaware, today. A Coast Guard Air Station Atlantic City MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew was returning from routine training with members of Coast Guard Station Crisfield, Maryland, when crews heard an aircraft emergency broadcast on the radio. The helicopter crew diverted to respond to the incident at Delaware Coastal Airport, where they came upon an airplane that was on fire, at about 3 p.m.

UAE Mulls $316mln LNG Terminal in India
Abu Dhabi's National Marine Dredging Company (NMDC) has been awarded a $316-million engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract for a hitech floating LNG (liquefied natural gas) port at Jafrabad in the Indian state of Gujarat, reports WAM. Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan has reviewed the plan by NMDC to develop the terminal. Mohamed Thani Murshed Al Rumaithi, chairman of NMDC, said the total cost of the project is expected to reach $316 million.
Chinese Shipbuilder Mulls Deep-Sea Exploration
China Shipbuilding Industry Corp (CSIC) is developing a manned submersible vehicle, which would be able to dive into Challenger Deep, the deepest point on Earth estimated to be around 10,900m below the surface, Xinhua news agency reported. CSIC is almost done building a new cost-efficient manned submersible that could reach the majority of seabeds in the world. The development of deep-sea manned submersibles for rough seas would be one of CSIC's priorities in 2017.
Fisheries Subsidies in Major Non-EU Fishing Nations
A new study for the European Commission compiles data and information on fisheries subsidies within six of the world's major fishing countries: Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, China, Russia and the United States. The study finds that subsidies for catch fisheries play a significant role in China, Taiwan, Japan, the US and South Korea, while aquaculture subsidies are the highest in Russia and China. The biggest subsidies go towards research, infrastructure, fuel (China) and insurance (Japan).
Frontline Proposes DHT Takeover
DHT Holdings, Inc has received a non-binding, highly conditional proposal from Frontline Ltd to acquire all of the outstanding shares of common stock of DHT in a stock-for-stock transaction. Frontline has proposed a ratio of 0.725 of a Frontline share for each share of DHT, which represents an implied price of $5.09 per DHT share, based on the closing price of Frontline shares of common stock on January 27, 2017.
Wightlink Installs New Mooring System
Work will start shortly to install a sophisticated state-of-the-art mooring system at Wightlink’s car ferry terminals in Fishbourne and Portsmouth. This is part of the company’s £45million investment in a new hybrid battery ship for the route and improvements to port facilities. AG&P, Hindustan to Build a New LNG Import Terminal in India
Atlantic, Gulf and Pacific Company (AG&P) and Hindustan LNG (HLNG) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to supply tolled gas to power stations in the East Godavari region of Andhra Pradesh, India.
