St Johns Ship Building Delivers First CTV for WINDEA

Palatka, Fla. shipyard St. Johns Ship Building announced it has delivered WINDEA Courageous, the first of three Jones Act compliant crew transfer vessels (CTV) ordered by WINDEA CTV, a partnership between Hornblower Wind and MidOcean Wind.The 30-meter-long WINDEA Courageous and its sister vessels are designed by Incat Crowther and each have capacity to carry 24 technicians, plus six crew. The Bureau Veritas-classed vessels will be propelled by quad Volvo IPS propulsion units driven by Volvo DI13 main engines.

Fincantieri: New Design for MSC Seashore

A traditional maritime coin ceremony  took place at the Fincantieri shipyard in Monfalcone, Italy, when the keel was laid for MSC Seashore. AWT Becomes PKP Cargo International

Polish rail freight operator PKP Cargo has rebranded its Czech subsidiary Advanced World Transport (AWT) to PKP Cargo International. Besides the new name, the Czech company has obtained a new corporate logo and colours.Advanced World Transport is the second largest rail freight carrier in the Czech Republic. In May 2015, PKP Cargo S.A. took over 80 percent shares in the company, and in November 2017 the remaining 20 percent.In December 2018, AWT acquired 80 percent shares in the company Primol-Rail d.o.o., which in 2019 received a certificate enabling provision of the rail freight on Slovenian market.Last year, the AWT comprehensive restructuring process began, which already has visible effects.

StormGeo Receives EU MRV Certification

StormGeo’s shipping division (formerly AWT) has received its certification as an EU MRV supplier by Verifavia Shipping. The European Union’s decision to monitor CO2 emissions for most vessels in excess of 5000 gross tons affects owners or vessel managers with ships that are calling on ports in EU member states. The EU requires ship-specific monitoring plans to be in place by August 31, 2017, including being MRV compliant for Monitoring, Reporting and Verification. StormGeo's shipping division (formerly AWT) has been collecting data, monitoring data and reporting data on fuel consumption and emissions for over twenty years. More than 60,000 voyages utilized StormGeo’s methods of collecting and reporting data in 2016.

Taking the Guesswork out of Navigating Tropical Cyclones

StormGeo's shipping division (formerly AWT), a provider of fleet optimization services, fleet performance and onboard voyage management software, has introduced a new multi-model technology enabling ship captains to make better routing decisions around tropical cyclones. StormGeo's Tropical Cyclone track uses multi-model ensembles and advanced analysis to narrow the "cone of uncertainty," the area extending out from a storm on a forecasting map that projects a cyclone's path. In order to improve decision-making for crew and cargo safety, the new Tropical Cyclone Multi-Model (TCMM) track technology is included in the latest versions of the onboard BVS and Routing Advisory Service.
