Novatek in Talks on LNG Transhipment

Russia's liquefied natural gas (LNG) producer Novatek is in talks to tranship its Yamal cargoes in Norway or Russia's Murmansk because it is unsure of the impact of U.S. sanctions on the Chinese COSCO tankers it uses, a Novatek official said.The United States imposed sanctions on Sept. 25 on state-owned COSCO's subsidiaries, COSCO Shipping Tanker (Dalian) Co and COSCO Shipping Tanker (Dalian) Seaman & Ship Management, for allegedly ferrying Iranian crude.U.S.-listed ship owner Teekay LNG said last week its shipping joint venture in Russia, Yamal LNG, had been "blocked" by the U.S.

Last Yamal LNG Arctic Ships on Sea Trials

The last of 15 Arc7-classed tankers ordered for the liquefied natural gas (LNG) production plant Yamal LNG in Russia's Arctic north are undergoing sea trials around a South Korean shipyard, Refinitiv Eikon shipping data showed on Monday.The Georgiy Ushakov and Yakov Gakkel LNG tankers are both in water at the Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering (DSME) Okpo shipyard in South Korea and indicating they are performing sea trials, the data showed. The Vladimir Voronin, meanwhile, finished its sea trials and has left the Sea of Japan, setting Yamal LNG as its destination.

Two Yamal Arctic LNG Tankers to Start Sea Trials

A new Arc7 class ice-breaking liquefied natural gas (LNG) tanker, the Nikolay Urvantsev, is undergoing sea trials, Refinitiv data shows, becoming the 13th vessel to join a fleet servicing Novatek's Yamal plant.The vessel, previously known only as DMSE 2432, is owned by Mitsui OSK Lines (MOL) and was built at the Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering (DSME) Okpo shipyard in South Korea. Valmet to Supply Scrubber Systems to DSME

Finnish technology company Valmet Oyj will supply exhaust gas cleaning system (scrubber system) for seven new building container vessels, which will be built in South Korea by Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering (DSME) for Korean Shipping company Hyundai Merchant Marine (HMM).The developer and supplier of technologies, automation systems and services  said in a press release that the building container vessels are the largest in the world, over 23,000 TEU (Twenty-Foot Equivalent Unit) each.

Ice-breaking Tanker Heads for Russia to Load Yamal LNG

Arc7 Class Arctic Vessels for Yamal LNG Facility

A new ice-breaking liquefied natural gas (LNG) tanker of the Arc7 class has begun sea trials by South Korea's Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering (DSME) around the island of Geoje, Refinitiv Eikon data shows.The Nikolay Zubkov, formerly known as Hull DSME 2429, exited DSME's port on Geoje on Tuesday and has zig-zagged across the Korea Strait, the data showed. Angelicoussis Books its 100th Ship at DSME

South Korean shipyard Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering (DSME) has bagged an order from the Angelicoussis Shipping Group’s unit Maran Gas Maritime, for a floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU). The local media which quoted DSME sources saying Tthat the vessel with a 173,400 cubic meter storage capacity is the 100th vessel ordered by the Angelicoussis Shipping Group at DSME since 1994. The FSRU with a length of 295 meters and a width of 46 meters is scheduled for delivery in the first half of 2021.

South Korea’s leading sea carrier Hyundai Merchant Marine Co. (HMM) has signed a financial contract with Korea Shipping and Maritime Transportation to build five 300,000-ton very large crude carriers (VLCCs), said a report in Business Korea.
