Marine fuel sales at the United Arab Emirates' Fujairah port hit a three-month low in May, data showed, while market sources said they are monitoring the situation in June as conflict flares between Israel and Iran, heightening regional tensions. Bunker sales, excluding lubricants, totalled 614,296 cubic metres (about 608,000 metric tons) at the Middle Eastern bunker hub in May, based on Fujairah Oil Industry Zone (FOIZ) data published by S&P Global Commodity Insights. The volumes were down 8.2% from April and by 0.2% from May last year.

Marine fuel sales at the Fujairah port in the United Arab Emirates recovered in March, after hitting a record low in February, latest data showed. Volumes, excluding lubricants, totalled 639,811 cubic metres (about 634,000 metric tons) at the world's third largest bunker hub, showed Fujairah Oil Industry Zone (FOIZ) data published by S&P Global Commodity Insights. The volumes in March were 15.5% higher than February, logging seven-month highs. Sales of 380-cst high-sulphur marine fuel rose 17.9% from February to about 168,000 cubic metres in March, while low-sulphur marine fuel sales, including low-sulphur fuel oils and marine gasoils, climbed 14.6% to about 472,000 cubic metres.The market share of high-sulphur bunkers was stable at 26% in March, while low-sulphur bunkers comprised 74%.

Sales of marine fuel at the United Arab Emirates' Fujairah edged higher in 2024 after a downtrend in previous years, latest data showed.Volumes, excluding lubricants, totalled 7.6 million cubic metres (about 7.5 million metric tons) for 2024, up 1.9% from 2023, based on Fujairah Oil Industry Zone data published by industry information service provider S&P Global Commodity Insights this week.The port retained its position as the world's third-largest bunker hub as of 2024, with volumes hovering above China's Zhoushan volumes of 7.26 million tons.

Saudi Arabia said on Monday that two of its oil tankers were among those attacked off the coast of the United Arab Emirates and said it was an attempt to undermine the security of crude supplies amid tensions between the United States and Iran.The UAE said on Sunday that four commercial vessels were sabotaged near Fujairah emirate, one of the world's largest bunkering hubs lying just outside the Strait of Hormuz, but did not describe the nature of the attack or say who was behind it.The UAE had not given the nationalities or other details about the ownership of the four vessels. Abu Dhabi celebrated the official commencement of operations of Fujairah Terminals in the East coast of the United Arab Emirates. The announcement came following an official event held at Novotel Fujairah, attended by Sheikh Saleh bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Chairman of the Board of Port of Fujairah, Captain Mohamed Juma Al Shamisi, CEO of Abu Dhabi Ports, along with a delegation of Senior Managers, Key Stakeholders and Customers. Earlier this year, Abu Dhabi Ports signed a 35-year concession agreement with the Port of Fujairah, under which "Fujairah Terminals", a new operational arm wholly owned by Abu Dhabi Ports, was established with over AED 1 billion ear-marked for investment in in equipment, and infra and super structure.

The newly established Fujairah Terminals, under the management of Abu Dhabi Ports, has welcomed its first container feeder vessel, the Dubai Alliance, reported Gulf News. This is the first ship to arrive at the terminal, which is wholly owned by Abu Dhabi Ports, the master developer, operator and manager of commercial and community ports within the emirate of Abu Dhabi, Fujairah Port and Khalifa Industrial Zone Abu Dhabi (KIZAD), following the signing of a concession agreement with the Port of Fujairah in June this year. Under a 35-year concession, Abu Dhabi Ports has the exclusive rights to develop port infrastructure and undertake operations for containers, general cargo, roll-on roll-off and cruise ships.

The port of Fujairah has installed eight Tideland SB-285P lateral mark buoys equipped with SolaNOVA-65 self-contained LED lanterns and AIS AtoN (aids to navigation) systems to communicate with vessels in the vicinity. The buoys are deployed north of the port and mark a new passage where the Fujairah Port Authority provides marine services for the Abu Dhabi Crude Oil Pipeline project (ADCOP). This involves the transport of crude oil through a 360km land pipeline, interim storage and export via three single point mooring buoys for deep water loading.

The Saudi Arabian-led coalition of anti-Houthi forces attacking Yemen has tightened the blockade on Yemen's ports affecting shipping activity including the delivery and loading of oil and gas shipments. Ships are unlikely to be able to access ports in areas that the coalition deems to be under Houthi rebel control. Navigation in Yemen’s territorial waters has been banned and ships are not allowed into Yemen unless inspected and approval by the Saudi-led coalition forces.
