Keppel Fels, Ensco Team On $130M Rig

Keppel FELS Limited, the offshore arm of Keppel FELS Energy & Infrastructure Ltd., and ENSCO International Inc. have entered in an alliance agreement to build, own and operate an enhanced KFELS MOD V jack-up rig, with an estimated value of US$130 million. ENSCO 102, respectively. Keppel FELS is responsible for the engineering and building of the rig, while ENSCO provides procurement services and is responsible for the project management during the construction of the rig. ENSCO will have the option to purchase the remaining 75% interest in the rig from Keppel FELS until two years after delivery of the rig. The option price for the period up to the delivery of the rig will be based on the final price payable to Keppel FELS for the construction of the rig.

Keppel FELS Divests Interest in Rig for $80m

Keppel FELS Limited (Keppel FELS) has transferred its entire 75% interest in ENSCO Enterprises Ltd II (JVC) to ENSCO Offshore International Company (ENSCO) for a cash consideration of US$80 million. The JVC is part of an alliance agreement with ENSCO to build, own and operate a jackup rig, ENSCO 106, valued at around US$105 million. The agreement carries an option for ENSCO to purchase Keppel FELS' entire interest in the rig prior to or upon delivery. The consideration is based on the book value of Keppel FELS’ 75% interest in the JVC.

Keppel FELS Delivers Jackup for ENSCO

Keppel FELS Limited (Keppel FELS) has delivered ENSCO 108, its ninth jackup rig for ENSCO International Inc (ENSCO) on schedule, within budget and with zero loss time incidents. Of this outstanding achievement, Mr Choo Chiau Beng, Chairman & CEO of Keppel Offshore & Marine, said, “Construction of ENSCO 108 was a true mark of the efficiency and precision in project design, management and execution. ENSCO 108 was named by Lady Sponsor, Mrs Marcia Hunzeker at a ceremony at Keppel FELS on 24 March 2007. Mrs Hunzeker is wife of Mr Russ Hunzeker, Drilling and Completions Manager of BP Tanguh. ENSCO 108 is built to Keppel’s proprietary KFELS B Class jackup rig design. She is expected to depart the Keppel FELS’ yard in April on her maiden assignment in Indonesia for BP.

Keppel Fels Abandons Verolme Botlek Pursuit

Keppel Fels Energy & Infrastructure Ltd. said it has aborted its planned purchase of Dutch repair and conversion yard Verolme Botlek. Keppel Fels, the offshore rig-building division of Keppel Corp., said in a statement to the Singapore Exchange that it had ceased negotiations with Wilton Fejinoord Holdings after the "expiry of the letter of intent." Keppel Fels, which was seeking a foothold in the European offshore market, said in November it was in talks with Wilton to acquire the Rotterdam yard, which has three dry docks. - (Reuters)

Keppel FELS Delivers Rigs Early

Keppel FELS Ltd (Keppel FELS) has delivered two rigs safely, ahead of schedule and within budget to owners. The KFELS B Class jackup rig, Greatdrill Chitra, was delivered to India’s Greatship Global Energy Services Pte Ltd (Greatship) 12 days ahead of schedule, earning Keppel FELS a bonus of S$300,000. Keppel FELS also delivered Gold Star, the world’s first DSS 38 deepwater semisubmersible drilling rig, to Brazilian operator, Queiroz Galvão Óleo e Gás (QGOG), six days early. Both rigs are well on-track for their maiden deployments.

Keppel FELS Secures Order for $191m Jackup

Keppel FELS Limited (Keppel FELS), the wholly-owned subsidiary of Keppel Offshore & Marine Limited (Keppel O&M), has secured a contract from PetroVietnam Drilling Investment Corp (PVD Invest) to build a $191m jackup drilling rig. The contract was secured following Keppel FELS’s successful delivery of PV Drilling I, a high quality jackup drilling rig, two months ahead of schedule in March 2007. Like PV Drilling I, the new rig will also be built to the KFELS B Class design. To be named PV Drilling II, it is slated for delivery in the fourth quarter of 2009.

Keppel FELS $110M Contract

Keppel FELS Ltd (Keppel FELS), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Keppel Corporation Ltd, has secured a contract to build a KFELS B Class jackup valued at US$110 million for Gulf Drilling International Limited (GDI), Qatar’s first national drilling company. The jackup, GULF-4, well suited in the Arabian Gulf and Indian waters, will be built to Keppel FELS’ proprietary design. It will be capable of operating in 300 feet water depth, drilling down to 30,000 feet and accommodating 110 men.

Keppel Deliver KFELS B Class Jackup

Keppel FELS Limited (Keppel FELS) will deliver a jackup to a wholly-owned subsidiary of SeaDrill Management (SeaDrill) on time and within budget. This is the third KFELS B Class rig that Keppel has completed within the first four months of 2006. During the christening ceremony of the jackup on April 21, 2006, Mr Choo Chiau Beng, Chairman & CEO of Keppel Offshore & Marine Limited (Keppel O&M), shared with the 300-strong guests, “The on-time delivery of the jackup is a showcase of the good management and execution of Keppel FELS. This rig is the first of four jackups that Keppel FELS is building for SeaDrill. Construction of the other three rigs is progressing well in accordance to schedule. Their expected deliveries are between mid 2007 and second quarter 2008.

Keppel FELS Delivers Jackup Rig to Ensco

Delivery marks 20th rig completion by Keppel FELS in 2013. Keppel FELS Ltd. Keppel To Restructure KHZ Under Keppel FELS

Keppel Corporation Limited (KCL) will restructure Keppel Hitachi Zosen Limited (KHZ) under Keppel FELS Limited (Keppel FELS), the rig building and repair arm of Keppel FELS Energy and Infrastructure (KFEI), to create a global leader in servicing the international marine and offshore market. KCL will transfer its entire 61% interest in KHZ to Keppel FELS immediately upon completion of the privatization of Keppel FELS Energy & Infrastructure Ltd (KFEI) in early to mid November this year. Keppel FELS Ltd’s (Keppel FELS) innovative and harsh environment accommodation semisubmersible design, DSS 20NS ,was conferred the IES Prestigious Engineering Achievement Award 2013 by the Institute of Engineers Singapore (IES) at the World Engineers Summit Gala Dinner and Award Presentation, held in Singapore on 13 September 2013. Keppel FELS to Deliver KFELS Super B Class Jackup

Keppel FELS Partners With ENSCO

Keppel FELS Limited (Keppel FELS) has secured a contract to build a semisubmersible drilling platform, ENSCO 8500, for a subsidiary of ENSCO International Incorporated (ENSCO). The total project value is approximately $312 million and is expected to be completed in 32 months. ENSCO has secured for ENSCO 8500 a drilling contract with a consortium of three independent oil companies for operation in the Gulf of Mexico. This agreement is for a four-year primary term with an option for the extension of the term. “Keppel FELS is glad to team up with ENSCO to develop a cost-efficient solution for their ultra-deepwater drilling needs,” said Mr Choo Chiau Beng, Chairman and CEO of Keppel Offshore & Marine Ltd (Keppel O&M), the parent company of Keppel FELS.

Keppel FELS Completes Singaporean Project

Keppel FELS Limited (Keppel FELS), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Keppel Offshore & Marine Limited (Keppel O&M), has completed the construction of its second jackup drilling rig for Gulf Drilling International Ltd (GDI), a joint venture between Qatar Petroleum (QP) and Japan Drilling Co., Ltd. (JDC). At a ceremony on 26 January 2008, the rig was named Al-Zubarah, after one of Qatar’s very important economic centres, by Mr Mohammad Al-Shirrawi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of GDI. Built to Keppel’s proprietary KFELS B Class design, the rig has been customised to GDI’s requirements for drilling in the Arabian Gulf. Al-Zubarah is capable of operating in water depths of up to 300 feet, drilling 30,000 feet deep and accommodating up to 110 men.

Keppel FELS Strikes Steel on Shah Deniz TPG500

Keppel FELS Ltd, the offshore arm of Keppel Corporation through Keppel Offshore & Marine (O&M), has cut its first piece of steel signifying the start of the fast-track fabrication on the Shah Deniz TPG500 Platform, to be installed in the Shah Deniz gas and condensate field in the Azerbaijan sector of the Caspian Sea and operated by BP. At the strike steel ceremony, Mr Tong Chong Heong, MD & COO of Keppel O&M, said, “The strike steel ceremony is significant because it shows that we have moved very quickly forward since the signing of the contract. Keppel FELS was awarded the US$96 million fabrication project from BP Exploration (Shah Deniz) Ltd, the Operator of the Shah Deniz Gas Export Project.

Keppel FELS Selects Intergraph

Intergraph Corporation announced that Keppel FELS has chosen to broaden its implementation of Intergraph's software technologies. Keppel FELS will deploy Intergraph's integrated solution suite for ship design, assembly and modeling in Singapore as well as in other engineering centers globally. Intergraph's Process, Power and Marine technologies provide ship design and engineering support including design and assembly, materials planning and procurement, and information management. By leveraging these capabilities, Intergraph customers can look forward to improvements in design efficiency, production schedule and overall lifecycle cost control.

Keppel FELS Delivers Second Jackup Rig to Oro Negro

Keppel FELS delivered a second KFELS B Class jackup rig to offshore Mexican oil field services company, Integradora de Servicios Petroleros Oro Negro. Named Laurus at Keppel FELS today, the rig was delivered eleven days early and with a perfect safety record, Keppel noted. Laurus is the second of two high-specification jackup rigs that Keppel FELS has built for Oro Negro which will be chartered to PEMEX, Mexico's national oil company, for deployment in offshore Mexico. The first rig, Primus, was delivered in December last year. Mr. Wong Kok Seng, Managing Director (Offshore) of Keppel Offshore & Marine and Managing Director of Keppel FELS, said, "This delivery is the eighth by Keppel FELS this year, and in a year where we aim to deliver a record 20 rigs.

Japan Drilling Company awards $210m jackup contract to Keppel

Keppel FELS Limited (Keppel FELS) has secured a contract worth about $210 million from Japan Drilling Company (JDC) to build a KFELS Super B Class jackup rig. Slated for delivery in the first quarter of 2013, the rig will be JDC's first newbuild rig order in six years and Keppel FELS' first for JDC. Mr Wong Kok Seng, Managing Director of Keppel FELS, said, "JDC has been very specific with the requirements from their new jackup building programme. We are honoured that they have selected our proven KFELS Super B Class design to be customised to their needs.

Keppel FELS Secures ENSCO Order

Keppel FELS Limited (Keppel FELS) won a repeat order for an ultra-deepwater semisubmersible drilling rig from a wholly-owned subsidiary of ENSCO International Incorporated (ENSCO). The total project value is approximately $338 million. The semi is scheduled for delivery in the first quarter 2009. To be named ENSCO 8501, this rig is similar to the first semi, ENSCO 8500, which ENSCO ordered with Keppel FELS in September 2005. Both semis will have the capability of drilling in water depths of up to 8,500 ft, and can be readily upgraded to 10,000 ft water-depth if required. Each rig is fitted with a DPS2 dynamic positioning system, eight 2600#kW thrusters and a single conventional drilling derrick system, with accommodation for up to 150 persons.
