New Tug Delivered to the Thai Navy

The Royal Thai Navy has taken delivery of the new tug H.T.M.S. Ta Chai built by Asian Marine Services PCL. Eastern Launches R.B. Weeks Trailing Suction Hopper Dredge

Eastern Shipbuilding Group, Inc. (ESG) on Friday launched the R.B. Weeks, the second trailing suction hopper dredge the Florida shipbuilder has constructed for Weeks Marine, Inc.The R.B. Weeks is named in honor of Richard B. Weeks, a co-founder of Weeks Marine and married to Magdalen Weeks, the namesake of the sister vessel Magdalen, built by Eastern and delivered in 2017.The new 356-foot trailing suction hopper dredge is being constructed at ESG’s Allanton Shipyard and has a hopper capacity of 8,550 cubic yards. The vessel outfitting and trials will be conducted at Eastern’s Port St.

New Harbor Tugs Delivered to Eastland Group in New Zealand

Eastland Group has taken delivery of two new harbor tugs, Maki and Ika Nui, for operations in Tairāwhiti (Gisborne), New Zealand.The 21.4-meter-long, 273 GT newbuilds are RAmparts 2100-CL tugs designed by Canada's Robert Allan Ltd. and constructed at Cheoy Lee Shipyards in China. Each vessel has a 11-meter beam (molded), 4.4-meter depth (least molded) and maximum navigational draft of 4.5 meters.The Maki (orca) and Ika Nui (big fish) names were announced in the summer of 2021 after suggestions from the public.

Vard's New Offshore Patrol Vessel Earns LR AIP

Classification society Lloyd’s Register (LR) said it  has awarded approval in principle (AIP) to Vard Marine Inc., a Fincantieri company, for its Vard 7 125 Next-Generation Offshore Patrol Vessel (OPV).The design of the 125-meter vessel is based on the Vard Series 7 OPV reference vessels and can be tailored to a broad range of military and naval missions. First RAstar 2800-CL ASD Escort Tug Delivered

Svitzer Suez 1, the first RAstar 2800-CL ASD escort tug, has been delivered to Svitzer Egypt LLC by Cheoy Lee Shipyards and will soon commence operations in the Suez Canal. Svitzer Australia recently took delivery of a new RAstar 3000-W series ASD tug, Svitzer North, from ASL Shipyard in Singapore.The vessel's design was developed by Robert Allan Ltd. in close cooperation with Svitzer’s operations team, to meet the unique demands of the Port of Geraldton, Western Australia. PSA Marine Takes Delivery of Two New Tugs

Singapore's PSA Marine recently took delivery of two new 32-meter harbor tugs, PSA Marvel and PSA Valkyrie, from PaxOcean Engineering Zhuhai Co.The newbuilds, which follow the PSA Thor and PSA Hulk delivered from the same builder in 2018, are of the same basic design with some improvements, said naval architect Robert Allan Ltd.The RAmparts 3200 ASD tugs are designed for ship assist in berthing and un-berthing operations at ports/terminals, coastal towing operations and in addition are capable of escort service.

Eastern Shipbuilding Group commenced steel cutting for R.B. Dredging contractor Weeks Marine has ordered a new trailer suction hopper dredger from Eastern Shipbuilding Group, to be delivered in the first quarter of 2023.The new dredge, RB Weeks, to be constructed at Eastern's Allanton shipyard in Panama City, Fla. will be a sister ship to the Eastern-built twin screw TSHD Magdalen placed into service in 2018. The RB Weeks is named after the co-founder of the company and the husband of Magdalen Weeks.The shipbuilding order, signed on April 16, 2020, adds to billions of dollars in capital investments made recently by the U.S.

The powerful 36 meter hybrid icebreaker tug Vilja was delivered to her Owner, Port of Luleå, on June 26th, 2019 at Gondan Shipyard in Spain. On July 4th, Vilja arrived in Luleå and the crew was very satisfied with the first sailing experience and tug performance on the journey home. The vessel will soon be used for ice management, firefighting and navigation aids service duties in the Port of Luleå, Sweden and will assist ships and conduct coastal towing in the northern sector of the Gulf of Bothnia.Vilja is a 36 meter TundRA 3600–H, Icebreaking Escort Tug designed by Robert Allan Ltd.

Italthai Launches Royal Thai Navy Tug

Thailand's shipbuilder Italthai Marine has launched a new RAmparts 3200 tug in Samut Prakan, Thailand.According to a release from Robert Allan Ltd, who designed and developed the tug, this is the second hull built by Italthai Marine for the Royal Thai Navy, the sister of Panyi 857 which was delivered in 2016 and has been successfully in operation since.The launch ceremony was performed according to naval tradition for good fortune and was presided over by Royal Thai Navy Commander in Chief with the Navy Wives Association President as the sponsor.The new tug is powered by twin MTU 16V4000M54 main engines driving Schottel SRP1212 fixed pitch propellers.The fendering system at the bow consist of two rows of cylindrical fender and a lower course of “W” fenders.

Keel Laid for Royal Thai Navy Tug

Thai shipbuilder Italthai Marine Limited in July hosted a keel laying ceremony for a new 32-meter tug that it is building for the Royal Thai Navy (RTN).The builder was awarded the construction contract for this second RAmparts 3200 tug earlier this year after delivering the first, Panyi 857, in 2016.Designed by Canadian naval architect and marine engineering firm Robert Allan Ltd., the tugs are built for handling large navy vessels and submarines coming in and out of port, as well as supporting oil recovery operations…
