Gazprom, Sovcomflot Pact on LNG Bunkering

Wärtsilä was tapped to supply an integrated package of sustainable solutions for China’s first seagoing LNG bunker vessel, scheduled for delivery in 2020.The ship is being built by the Dalian Shipbuilding Industry Corporation (DSIC) for an affiliate of the ENN Energy holdings, one of the largest users of LNG in China. Gibdock Converts Ferry to Run on LNG fuel

Gibraltar’s Gibdock shipyard has completed a major conversion project so that the Baleària ferry Napoles can operate using LNG as fuel. The 186m long Napoles, which has capacity for 1,600 passengers and 1,430 lane metres of cargo, is the first of five ships that Baleària plans to convert to dual fuel operations to comply with IMO sulphur cap regulations. Nauticor Acquires World's Biggest LNG Bunkering Ship

AB Klaipedos nafta (KN), the operator of oil products and liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminals, and the German company Nauticor GmbH & Co. have agreed on the sale of KN’s 10% stake in the charter contract of Kairos, the world’s largest LNG bunker supply vessel to Nauticor.This leaves the world's biggest LNG bunkering vessel at Nauticor's disposal. Study Shows LNG Forming Pathway to IMO 2050

Greenhouse Gas (GHG) reductions of up to 21% are achievable now from LNG as a marine fuel, compared with current oil-based marine fuels over the entire life-cycle from Well-to-Wake (WtW).An independent study report confirms that emissions of other local pollutants, such as sulphur oxides (SOx), nitrogen oxides (NOx) and particulate matter (PM), are close to zero when using LNG compared with current conventional oil-based marine fuels.The study, commissioned by SEA\LNG and SGMF, was conducted by leading data and consultancy provider thinkstep according to ISO standards.

Rederij Doeksen Signs LNG Deal with Titan

GTT to Design LNG Tanks for Sembcorp

French shipping engineering company Gaztransport & Technigaz (GTT) has received an order from Singapore’s Sembcorp Marine shipyard concerning the tank design of the LNG bunkering vessel on order at the yard for Mitsui OSK Lines (MOL) subsidiary.The LNG containment specialist said in a release that it will design the tanks of the vessel, which will be fitted with the Mark III Flex membrane containment system, a technology developed by GTT.The vessel will offer a total cargo tank capacity of 12,000 m3.

LNG Bunkering Takes Off in Rotterdam

The throughput of LNG - liquefied natural gas - as bunker fuel in the Rotterdam bunker port increased considerably from 1,500 to 9,500 tonnes in 2018.Meanwhile, the sale of bunker oil - fuel for shipping - in the bunker port decreased from 9.9 million m3 to 9.5 million m3. The decrease can almost entirely be ascribed to the decline in sales of heavy fuel oil from 8.3 million m3 to 7.9 million m3.The Port of Rotterdam Authority suspects that the decline in bunker volumes in Europe’s largest bunker port is a consequence of the increased scale and use of modern vessels in container shipping.

LNG Bunker Supply Vessel Christened

On February 8, 2019, what is touted as the world’s largest LNG bunker supply vessel Kairos was christened in the port of Hamburg. With a tank capacity of 7,500 m³, Kairos is the world’s largest LNG bunker supply vessel. The ice class vessel has several other unique features, including the ballast-free design and installation of a CNG tank to store vapor return gas from customer vessels. The construction of the vessel started in 2016 and in February 2018, steel cutting took place at Hyundai Mipo Dockyard (HMD) in Ulsan, South Korea, from where the vessel was delivered in October 2018.

Titan LNG, Fluxys to Build FlexFueler 002

Belgium-based natural gas transmission system operator Fluxys and Netherlands-based Titan LNG have joined forces to build the FlexFueler 002, a bunkering pontoon to make liquefied natural gas (LNG) more widely available as shipping fuel in the Antwerp port and region.Shipyard Kooiman, Zwijndrecht, The Netherlands, was contracted to build the FlexFueler 002. The pontoon, which is scheduled to be commissioned by mid-2020, will measure 76.4 x 11.45 m and is equipped with four vacuum insulated type C cargo tanks of 370 cu. m. each, to carry liquid LNG.
