Navico Invests to Boost Manufacturing Capabilities

Navico Group, a division of Brunswick Corporation, announced a multimillion-dollar investment in its Lowell, Mich. facility to create two Centers of Excellence in metal fabrication and electrification. The investment is intended to increase quality, capacity and efficiency, as well as improve product manufacturing capabilities, the company said.“Navico Group is committed to being a leader in metal fabrication and electrification for the industries we serve, and this investment is a testament to that” said Brett Dibkey, Navico Group President.

Mercury Marine Unveils V10 Outboards

Simrad Debuts HALO 2000, HALO 3000 Radars at FLIBS

Brunswick Corporation Establishes Navico Group

Brunswick Corporation announced the formation of Navico Group, which will replace its current Advanced Systems Group (ASG). Navico Group will continue to be led by Brett Dibkey and represents a complete organizational integration between the legacy ASG business with two key acquisitions that were completed in late 2021 – Navico and RELiON Battery LLC.The newly formed Navico Group will be comprised of numerous brands that serve the marine, RV, specialty vehicle, and industrial markets.

Brunswick to Acquire Navico for $1B

LR to Acquire C-MAP Commercial from Navico

Lloyd's Register (LR) said it has reached a deal to acquire Navico Group’s C-MAP commercial marine business, a provider of commercial marine cartography and digital publications, shore-side and shipside voyage optimization, cloud-based fleet management and fleet analytics software. Financial terms were not disclosed. The acquisition, which includes C-MAP’s charts and publications, route planning and fleet management, weather services, professional services, and marine hydrographic services, will be integrated with into Lloyd's Register's i4 Insight performance platform.

Mackay Marine Outfits Kitsap Transit's New Ferries

Mackay Marine said it provided marine electronics systems and technologies for Kitsap Transit's two new 250-passenger vessels built by Nichols Brothers Boat Builders (NBBB).Bremerton, Wash.-based public transit agency ordered the new vessels in December 2018 to provide expedient commuter services to downtown Seattle from both Kingston, Wash. and a planned Southworth, Wash. route.The bow-loading fast ferries, built by NBBB at its Whidbey Island, Wash. shipyard, are state-of-the-art, low-wake vessels.

VIKING Delivers Ambulance Boat for the Hellenic Coastguard

VIKING Life-Saving Equipment has delivered the first vessel in a series of three new ambulance boats for the Hellenic Coastguard.For many years, the Coastguard and the Hellenic National Center for Emergency Care (EKAB) have worked together to support patient transfer requirements from the Greek islands to larger hospitals. Today, a call for transport services is almost a daily occurrence.The new closed-cabin boat will be station in Naxos as the first in a series of special craft equipped with medical equipment.

Navico Inks US Coast Guard Contract Through 2025

Navico announced it has signed a five-year agreement with the U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) to provide C-MAP cartography under the USCG’s Small Boat Product Line (SBPL). Navico was selected for a competitive award by the USCG for products that met all of their technical needs. Navico’s C-MAP will deliver cartography cards to 300 different stations across America, twice a year.The SBPL aligns all boat support resources under a single entity with authority and accountability for maintenance and logistics for all boats in the Coast Guard.

Barrus Marine Equipment in the UK, the Marine Leisure Division of EP Barrus, has expanded its product portfolio with the addition of Navico's Simrad and Lowrance brands.The UK-based engine importer and distributor entered the marine chandlery market last year, when it took on the Besto Lifesavers range of marine safety and life-saving equipment.Since then it has secured distribution of 20 new brands, which complement the existing range of parts and accessories distributed by Barrus.Amongst these new brands are Simrad and Lowrance, market leading marine electronics brands for the recreational and commercial marine markets."The Simrad range of marine electronics are for powerboats, sports boats and day boats.

Navico Mourns Passing of Darrell Lowrance

Lowrance, founder of its Lowrance brand.Darrell served as President and CEO of Lowrance Electronics from 1964 to 2006, and was responsible for many breakthroughs in marine electronics. In addition to the first recreational sonar product for anglers – the Fish-Lo-K-Tor (also known as the “Little Green Box”) – he led the development of the first graph recorder, the first integrated sonar/GPS unit, and many others.

Navico Acquires Naviop

Marine electronics manufacturer Navico, parent company to the Lowrance, Simrad and B&G brands, announced it has finalized an agreement to acquire marine monitoring and control systems provider Naviop. Simrad Yachting:Yamaha Command Link Plus Integration

Simrad Yachting announced today an agreement with Yamaha to integrate the Command Link plus interface into Simrad systems. The Yamaha Command Link Plus system allows boaters to monitor the performance of up to four  amaha outboard engines and critical boat systems on the same screen. The integration gives boaters the capability to monitor that data directly from select Simrad displays. “Our agreement with Yamaha creates another valuable integration option for Simrad customers,” said Leif Ottosson, CEO, Navico. “Adding Command Link Plus functionality to our displays gives users    a powerful tool to maximize the performance of their vessel. GoFree Vessel Monitoring Adds Global Connectivity with Vodafone

Vodafone announced today that it is working with Navico, an international marine electronics company, to bring global connectivity to Navico’s GoFree product suite. Using the Vodafone Global Internet of Things (IoT) SIM, GoFree can provide boaters, fleet managers, and service technicians with the ability to monitor, log, transmit and report important vessel information in real-time. With the connectivity, GoFree Track, an affordable hardware system,can track critical vessel information like engine hours, battery status, oil pressure, coolant temperature, fuel consumption, and more. By tracking these on-board assets, boaters can instantly access details of potential mechanical problems and share them with technicians to service the specific area in need.

CalAmp Helps Navico Enable Wireless Connectivity

Wireless products, services and solutions provider CalAmp said its enhanced LMU-4530 telematics devicehas been chosen to support Navico’s new cloud-enabled GoFree Connected Vessel program to monitor onboard engine, sensor and navigation data. CalAmp’s device management and maintenance software platform, PULS (Provisioning/Programming, Update and Logistical System), has also been customized to support Navico’s over-the-air device management and firmware updates for vessels in port or at sea.
