Equinor’s First Hybrid Power Complex Starts Operations

Equinor and its Brazilian subsidiary Rio Energy have started commercial power production at the Serra da Babilônia Solar facility in Brazil. Strategically co-located with the existing Serra da Babilônia Wind, this represents the first hybrid asset in Equinor’s power portfolio, comprising 140 MW of solar and 223 MW of wind capacity.Hybrid projects take advantage of the complementary nature of solar and wind resources, which generate power at different times of the day and throughout different seasons.

Contemporary Amperex Electric Vessel (CAEV), a subsidiary of CATL, officially launched the world's first and only "ship-shore-cloud" zero-carbon shipping and integrated smart port solution at Marintec China 2025.The solution is designed to increase vessel electrification.Su Yiyi, General Manager of CATL Electric Vessel Department and Contemporary Amperex Electric Vessel said that previously, power supply, energy replenishment, and maintenance services were provided by separate suppliers.

TotalEnergies Marketing Middle East, a fully owned subsidiary of TotalEnergies based in Dubai, has time chartered a first-of-its-type 750 cubic meter hybrid lubricants bunkering barge from Tristar Group to supplement its Lubmarine division’s ship-to-ship operations in the port of Fujairah, UAE as of October 1st. The Tristar Eco Voyager, featuring a hybrid engine design that combines electric and biofuel power, coupled with an advanced powertrain, is designed to significantly reduce carbon emissions compared to traditional diesel propulsion barges.

Vard Electro Inks Service Pact for Krill Harvest Vessels

Vard Electro, a subsidiary of the Fincantieri-owned Vard Group, entered into a three-year service level agreement (SLA) with Aker QRILL Company, a leader in krill harvesting. The contract covers a fleet of four krill harvesting vessels and two cargo vessels.A central part of the agreement is fleet-wide spare parts coverage. The SLA also includes annual preventive maintenance, technical support, and crew training for Antarctic Endurance, a  krill harvesting vessel delivered by VARD in 2019 and equipped with a complete SeaQ package covering bridge, automation, power and communications systems.

Report: Korean Yard to Build US-Flag Tankers

Business Korea reports that two tankers built at domestic Korean yard K Shipbuilding will be delivered under the U.S. flag and able to trade within the US.Construction will begin on the two 50,000dwt medium range tankers early next year for delivery in 2027.They will transport crude oil and LNG after Greek shipping company Stealthgas transferred the order to its U.S. subsidiary, reports Business Korea, citing sources.
