PaxOcean, a part of Kuok Maritime Group (KMG), has opened a new S$200 million shipyard at 5 Jalan Samulun (5JS).The shipyard, situated in the Jurong Industrial Estate, spans 17.26 hectares and features two large graving docks, one floating dock, expanded quayside capacity, and dedicated, integrated workshops to support complex and high-value maritime and offshore assets. The build took two years and was jointly supported by JTC Corporation (JTC) and Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB).5JS replaces PaxOcean’s previous location at 33 Tuas Crescent.

A new quay crane at Tuas Port, Singapore, tipped over on Sunday while it was being delivered to a non-operational berth.There were no injuries or fatalities.No damage has been assessed to adjacent port equipment and facilities. All of PSA Singapore (PSA)’s current operational berths remain fully accessible, and all port operations and port development works remain unaffected.The incident is under investigation.

The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) has reported that a moored Belize-registered dredger, KSE Hitachi, had sunk off Tuas in Singapore.According to MPA, there were no personnel reported to be on board the dredger at the time of the incident, with port operations remaining unaffected.MPA is investigating the incident, and navigational broadcast has been issued to advise passing vessels to keep clear of the area.The dredger’s company is making arrangements to salvage the vessel.Three MPA patrol crafts have been deployed to the site to render assistance.

Seatrium has signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) with Japan-based Penta-Ocean Construction (POC) to carry out early engineering work for a 5,000t fully-revolving heavy lift vessel project for the Japan wind market.Subject to the final investment decision by POC, the full EPC contract award is expected in 1Q 2025.POC owns a range of self-propelling trailing suction hopper and cutter suction dredgers for marine construction works as well as two turbine installation vessels equipped with a 800t and a 1,600t lifting capacity crane respectively.

The FPSO has set off for Norway, loaded aboard Boskalis' Boka Vanguard semi-submersible heavy transportation vessel.Johan Castberg is Sembcorp Marine’s first EPC newbuild FPSO.
